Where do you go for silence? For meditation? Do you seek out somewhere specific most of the time? Outdoors/indoors? I use to love to sit beneath my Maple tree in the back and find solace and quiet and natural peace. It blew down in the hurricane/wind storms we had last September and since I really have not had a constant place. Most of the time now, I stay indoors for it, as I cant be in the sun for long at a time from my meds.
So where do you go?
I used to go outside also, but they built condos right behind my house so it's not quiet anymore. I turned my dining room (which we never used) into my quiet space I get a lot of sunshine in that room and have a little fountain that I turn on because I find the sound of water helps me relax. I also put my altar in there.
Well, ahem, the title faked me out at first lol...I go up Green Canyon, through the canyon maples and junipers until I reach the spruces and aspens, with the rocky canyon walls towering above me :)
I enjoy going to the beach in the early morning, when there are very few if anybody around. Watching the sunrise over the ocean and hearing the waves lapping against the shore. Very peaceful and relaxing
outdoors, it's also the beach... indoors would be my room. lately, I no longer have so much time to go to the beach so I just stay in my room where I can be totally alone and peaceful. At night, I just open wide my windows and watch the stars and also enjoy the night during full moons. It's like leveled up to where I'm standing from the window. really magical!
There is a beautiful little place on the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal. There is a nice little path into the woods where I can sit and meditate. There is an occasional passerby, but they are usually polite enough to pass quietly... I've had the occasional person stop to ask what I'm doing and if they can join... it's a great place =) but unfortunately, it's not close to my home, BUT I am also fortunate enough to live close to a park. I'm also 20-30 minutes from the beach, and I can always sit in one of our beautiful squares surrounded by 200+ year old oak trees. It's fantastic!
I go to my bedroom, meditation room or I'll go in my backyard (if it's after 10pm). Sometimes, if it's really bad I'll drive up to the mountains or to the beach.
