Depends on what I'm doing. I have an altar for basic indoor ones and anything I do indoors. When I'm dealing with earth spells I have to go outdoors to use the earth.

Preferrably if I weren't poor and suburban, I'd prefer to do all of it outdoors. I hate rituals indoors, at least complex ones need to be outside. That's why I confine it to basic rituals and spells.

thnk u mettalium

I do both.. I perfer outside ... if your cramped then just visualize the circle around you, KNOWING nothing negative can enter..

thank u faery

Im unsure why people think that they need an entire 9 feet (or whatever) to cast a circle (seems to be a common belief, and I am unsure where it stems from). Circles can transcend the material; go through them, so if your altar is in the corner, a circle should be no more hard to cast than if you were out in the middle of a field. Circles are cast through visualization as well as action, anyways. If when casting, if something is in your way, work around it and continue on.

I perform my spells wherever I am at the moment, and where my supplies are. Sometimes I cast them at my altar, sometimes I cast them when I'm outside; heck, I've even cast them at my kitchen counter. It's not the place that makes them effective, it's the caster. And if you want to cast spells outside, go somewhere where prying eyes are less abundant, like a secluded park area or trail.

helped a lot,wolfie..thnk u

I do craft workings where ever I am when I need to do one.

My altar is for worship.

Inside.  In limited space, because I only have a small apartment.  Although I don't usually cast circles, it's going to be rather awkward when I try just because, while the circle can go through walls, I, certainly, cannot. :P  As I gather altar tools, I do want to find myself a portable set, but even then, the likelihood of me doing ritual/spells outside is fairly slim.  The weather isn't that friendly half the year, and living downtown, secluded parkspace isn't terribly easy to find.

Honestly I perform them wherever I happen to be. Sometimes, I'll need a spell, and I won't be right in front of my altar, or it will be too cold to go outside (ah, the joys of Alaska). Since I don't generally use many tools for my spells anyway, as long as I can find a little spot where I can be alone for a few minutes, I can do one there.

I have a "Magick Room".and several other places in my home and outside......What if the neighbors do see? What would happen? I do spellworking as needed ,no matter where i am also, from, simple parking spot spells to very complex spells for healing .....to cursing. There are many variables in spellworking...

This room is gorgeous!  I love it :)

We do both outside and inside work. Our outside spells are done in our garden area. We live in a small city but our garden is fenced off and is definitely an oasis and sacred space. We do all kinds of magick in our garden.
Inside we can set up an altar anywhere we please, we often use the kitchen table to set up altar items, we have used the livingroom and also our bedroom.

Outdoors in Nature itself is a wonderful place to have your sacred space but when it's really cold or raining too hard to work outdoors our house is special enough.
