No judgement, I'm just curious to know who is not going to vote and why? My husband and his friends started a political action committee called RickeyPAC with the soul purpose of getting just one guy named Rickey to vote. Do you think it is right to try and convince people who do not want to vote to go out and vote?
Here is Australia it is compulsory to Vote, and I do not agree with it, for the mere point that there are so many ppl who do not care & they that are forced to tick any old box, and they do just that, pick a number......I think they are better not to Vote, as who knows just how many thousands of Votes go to the candidate just because they are first on the list if you know what I mean.....Really if they dont care about the issue, then they should be allowed to leave it to those who do care......JMHO
Hmmm that's a good point. Is the winner of your election determined by an electoral college or by popular vote? I live in Vermont and we only have 3 electoral votes to count towards a candidate, which makes many of my friends believe their vote doesn't count.
We have a lot of "informal votes" which do not count, ppl just turn up have their name marked off because they have too & put in a blank form..........we have the choice to vote for one candidate, or to mark every candidate in order of preference......
This is also how a candidate can win the popular vote, as in 2004 but lose the election. Just another way American politics is rigged from the outset. But, even though I don't believe in the manipulated two party system, I still make it a point to inform myself on the issues and vote.
You HAVE to vote or get fined??
That I have to say is rediculous.
If they want to vote then let them vote.. but to force people to do so, well that's what happens, people get elected because people are just blinding picking someone so they won't get fined.. that's not a good way to elect someone.
If someone wants the right to bitch and moan about the government, then they have the responsibility as well as the right to vote. If you don't vote, then don't complain about what you get.

I feel I have the right to complain when the voting is not fair.
Past two elections are blatant examples of stealing votes, a rigged election with 'faulty' voting machines.
This years tactics are the suppression of voters, there are new rules, but they are not telling anyone what those rules are, so if you do not follow the rules, they throw your vote away.
I'm not voting unless I KNOW that my vote really counts.
Look, here's the thing. Even when the election isn't rigged with faulty voting machines, no voters are suppressed, no one is adding in votes from people who have been dead for years, and all that stuff....your vote still doesn't really count. That's the whole point of the electoral college -- a filter system for the average vote.
Yes! I think it should be the popular vote that determines the winner of any election. If that had been the case 8 years ago things would have been a different story. My 3 electoral votes in Vermont are not going to count for squat in the grand scheme of things. That is why my husband and his friends are trying to get their friend Rickey, who lives in a swing state with more electoral votes, to go out and vote.
