I had a discussion earlier and suggested the"spirits" may be trying to tell someone something.Their reply was the spirits don't concern themselves with the mundane everyday stuff.
If we can't call on help from faeries,spirits,gods to influence and effect the world around us what good are they and magic/k for?

If I curse someone I'm at least releasing that anger ritually and if something happens to that person then so much the better.
There are magical practices focused on making things happen in mundane everyday life that I am purposely not mentioning.But why call ourselves witch or magician if we can't influence things in our lives big or small.

One of the biggest reasons it works is because of "coincidence". Even if it never works and it's all in my head, it makes me feel better practicing it. That's all that matters to me.

If you have an animist view like myself, than there are certainly spirits that concern themselves with mundane affairs. It is their role in the world. As for gods, sometimes gods have their own plans and what seems mundane to us is important to them and what seems mundane to them is important to you. It's really a perspective issue.
As far as the person who answered your question saying they don't care, what is this person basing it off of? UPG?
Also note there is a difference between calling on a god or spirits' power versus actually summoning them and appealing to them for help.

Permalink Reply by Lilitu Xoc on For myself, I can't speak for anyone else. I use minor spirits that are usually not that sentient to do some things like light spells and so forth. But for bigger things I merely draw the power of a higher being, I don't normally summon one and ask for bidding to be done. The only time I summoned is when I had this dream and I hated these people, so I summoned a demon to make their lives bad. A low level one, not a higher one. A mid or higher one I don't think you can "control" but lower ones are usually more like animals.
Permalink Reply by Lilitu Xoc on Since it was a dream and I won't be seeing those people again, most likely I will not anyway, I don't think there was at that moment. When it concerns real life however, I think it can backfire because of the demon itself and the magic being misused. For myself, I try to give them what they want in those situations, which is usually to feed off a psyche, the negativity. It is far better for a demon to feed off the negativity that is already there than to create new desires that cause it.

We can figure it out with our own intelligence ,the day to day laws and common sense......I use spellworkings for more important things,generally,though I have done parking spot spells,at times.......to "blame" the energies,the faeries,or karma for the day to day bullshit we deal with is such a cope out to me....coping,dealing and figuring the day to day "stuff" out makes us who we are,capable,powrerful,sane people.....can magick be used to ":get even" of course,called revenge spell. Do I BLAME,black magick,gremlins,pissing the energies off when my car doesnt start,NOPE.....just an olde car that is going to shit.......I RESPECT using magick and I respect my own powers and abilities to accomplish things daily

Some spells are quite elaborate and exacting, to be sure. For instance, there are candle rituals and personal empowerment spells that take up to 21 days to complete, working for a specific period ever day.
But for every spell of that type, the knowing practitioner can cite a much simpler way of working toward the same goal, by lighting a prayer lamp, for example, or suffumigating a space with ritual incense*.

I use and choose spellworkings wisely. I use to do parking spot spells ALOT,now I dont....just not necessary. I'd rather use my energies for finding lost pets oritems,way more important. Now if i have my 95 year olde DA with me,yup,I'd do a parking spot spell....I do a ritual every morn and include magick daily in life,as i am my magick,I believe,but i choose my spellworkings,for my reasons
