Even though the story of Adam and Eve is an Abrahamic as opposed to Pagan tale, I must point something out something about Women's clear superiority over man. So now I pose this question: Why Eve? Why oh Why was Eve the one the Serpent tempted? Some people would dictate that to represent how foolish Eve was compared to Adam. I feel that Eve was a more threatening figure to the Serpent than Adam was. Eve considered the consequence of eating the forbidden fruit, but it does appear that Adam did. He seemed to take it without question. Doesn't that strike you as odd?

I ask that you comment on this new theory.

i totally agree with you, i've often said" the Greatest Story Ever Told" are just good stories being told and not the absolute truth

You know there may be some truth in them but over time even the tiniest thing can be distorted... And thanks for befriending me Ajani, Blessings of the Day to You Friend ~!

I think the snake tempted Eve because she was the stronger one. After all if i was in the Snake-devils shoes(or sandals) I would have been going fo rthe stronger and more willed one. The weaker minded one would do what the stronger one said. PLus didnt god say adam was forbidden only. that was before eve was made so he left it up to adam to tell eve about it.

if god told eve himself i'm sure she would have known why since unlike adam she would have wanted to know why it was forbidden.

Plus the bible is really sexist. women appear bad in the bible way more the the men. and the mens "sins" are not taken as bad as the females

The truth is - I'm immortal and I flexed my muscles.

What you have to think about is this: the serpent didnt lie. 'God' told them if they ate the fruit they would die. The serpent said that wasnt true. Turns out it wasnt true. They got ejected from the garden....big deal.

This isnt the first story in history with a serpent, a tree, and a forbidden fruit. Look up Ladon and the Hesperides....that is one example...but there are hundreds. I am certain the cahracter of eve came from an earlier pagan goddess.

God didn't tell eve anything. And It was true. they were going to die after that. I don't see any reference that says the were or were not immortal. If they were mortal all along and ate the fruit of knowledge maybe realizing that they were naked wasn't the only thing they gained as far as knowledge. The knowledge of thier own mortality would be horrifying.

If Adam and Eve only first killed a lion when the were expelled from eden then were they veggitarians?

something to think about.

I think that the story is told with Eve in that infamous role in an attempt to demonize women in general, like the xtian church is so famous for doing. And believe me, it is preached from the pulpit, taught in women's bible studies, drilled into the heads of women of ALL ages. Disgusting... Some parts of the xtian bible are truly beautiful and inspirational. This story and it's allusion to "original sin" really isn't one of those parts. LOL

I have to agree with Peace Lily. The xtian church looks down on women. To them, women are the devil.

It is a way to keep women in their place... Or in the place they want us to be.

"I must point something out something about Women's clear superiority over man"

I find it amusing,

If somebody proclaims that men are superior, they are seen as a sexist pig who should be burned,

But proclaiming women are the master sex, no that's just fine.

What ever happened to striving for equality of the sexes?

until there is equality and balance all religions and belief system will fail.

Maybe the phrase "Women's clear superiority over man" was a little much. All I meant was to point out why the Serpent Tempted Eve as opposed to Adam, how intimidating she must have been to the Serpent.f
