Will you have a New Zip Code in 2012 Due to Unforeseen Events?

All this talk about 2012 and the end of the Mayan Calender has me wondering what will truly happen. I know that there is going to be some really unusual planetary alignment that some predict will cause the earths axis to change thus causing catostrophic events such has earthquakes and ice formation's in climates that were tropical.

I'm interested to know if there is any written prediction by ancient people, other than nastrodameus or the Mayans? I read somewhere that Merlin has made predictions. Do you know of any? I find it quite fascinating to think about. Should those of us in Florida move futher North? Is there some cosmic event that will signal this change? What do you think is going to happen, if anything?

Gwen, with the preface that life can surprise us, I doubt it.

My own feeling about 2012 is that it's the latest date in our ongoing cultural preoccupation with doomsday, and I think that preoccupation has more to do with cumulative stress and anxiety and the "turning of the ages" than anything else.

I revived an old thread from History & Research, Astronomical Science and 2012, since such wild scientificesque babble arises whenever the subject of 2012 comes up.

I hope to have a new zip code by then... I want to be out in the middle of nowhere when the proverbial shit hits the fan!

Char,

If you can cook, you might check out my blog entery WOLF Camp the first location (Claim) is located in NE Nevada. I will be moving onto the claim in early spring and am still looking for camp cadre, including a camp cook. How safe is deep in a mountain canyon 80 miles North of I-80 and 45 miles South of the Idaho/Nevada boarder, with trained warriors around and considering you a part of the team? :^) Here are some Photos of the canyon, if you are interested, or anyone else for that matter, drop me a line.

Very good, I will be working on the acquisition of material and consumables over the next couple of months, and selling most of my civilian crap. Middle of March early April is the target window for the move (I hope that we get an early spring) and I will be keeping an ongoing blog that will track the progress here on PS.

I have been testing storage foods over the past year or so and I have found a good supplier of excellent quality foodstuffs packaged for long term storage and they sell it in a few different "kits" but the trip to the closest store is about 25 miles (Duck Valley Indian Reservation) so fresh food is available but I do not want to be running into town to much, so a vegetable garden and hunting will augment the staples.

If yall can think of anything that I miss let me know as things progress.
Oh, Naptown is just slang for Annapolis. I'm very fortunate that the last two neighborhoods I've lived in here (one rural, this one middle-class suburban) are good places to be. In the rural area, we were on a dead-end spur of the electricity grid, usually the last to be restored (sometimes days later) after a power outage, and the last to be plowed in winter . . . so a local farmer would run his tractor with a plow all the way down the street for us. In this neighborhood, after a storm or hurricane, we go check on each other --- chainsaws and shovels and trucks and generators come out for loan. It just seems like the natural thing to do. Maybe because there's a lot of retired military in the area . . .
