PaganSpace.net The Social Network for the Occult Community

We take this community very seriously, we want it to remain a place for people to meet, interact, and converse with others of similar and differing beliefs. The following is based on questions, comments, do's, don'ts and such that we have been asked about in the past, so we thought this would be a good resource for the members. The full Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for this website are here.

The not so legal terminology:

1. If you go to someones page and you do not like what they say, what they believe etc. then just do not revisit their page. Contact us if there is something that violates the terms or the law.

2. We are not judge and jury for squabbles and arguments. If you find yourself in a disagreement with someone, simply quit conversing with them. If they harass or bother you personally (ie: on your profile or within private messages) after you have stopped the conversation then contact us.

The expansion of rule #2 is as follows:

When a situation has arisen where the administration must become involved to mediate, our decision will be final. If a member/members involved in the situation instigates or attempts to revive the situation by publicly posting blogs, articles, posts, comments or anything of the like within PaganSpace, (this also constitutes harassment through private messages or trying to get others to instigate a situation in their behalf), that member/members will be banned for instigation and a notice will be placed on PaganSpace by the administration explaining what and why the member/members have been banned. Simply put, when it’s over, it’s over…so don’t keep it going because the outcome may not have been to your liking. Any and all proof of such instances will be used to its full potential which may include possible legal action depending on the criteria.

3. We do not allow minors on this website that are under the age of 15, unless their parent is also a member and has given us permission. If we find profiles of members under the age of 15, not within the guidelines of parental accompaniment we will remove them.

4. This website is open to the public view, which means we as a open public community have guidelines.

5. Please understand that we run on a network which has guidelines and policies that this community must adhere to in order to remain public. We will enforce and uphold those guidelines, if we do not our network could be disabled.

6. Many questions about how to move around the community and the features of this community can be found in the Help Section located in the top tabs of each page.

7. Announcements Area: The announcement section was placed up to help facilitate us with important news related to PaganSpace.net, as well the members with posting events, new businesses, products and services etc. The announcement area is not a place to publicly discuss issues, rants etc. > that is what the blogs are for.

8. Plagiarism: If you place content up that is not your material please assure you have permission, cite your sources and give the author credit for the works via name and/or link.

9. Because we are a public community and not a private community some guidelines must be adhered to with relation to this. While we have no personal issues with the human body, we were all born nude and we are all likely nude at some point on a daily basis. Yet, the guidelines stipulated from a legal aspect are found in the next paragraph. Please use standard judgment with relation to this I believe most people are aware of the terms of explicit, lewd or pornographic content. If you are unsure then we have placed the legal information below. We apologize if this offends anyone, but we did not write the definitions so do not blame the messenger :-)
  • From a legal resource relating to the internet and public viewing as to what constitutes explicit or pornographic in nature:
  • A.. The average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find, taken as a whole and with respect to minors, appeals to a prurient interest in nudity, sex, or excretion, and
  • B. . the average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find depicts, describes, or represents, in a patently offensive way with respect to what is suitable for minors, ultimate sexual acts, normal or perverted, actual or simulated; sadomasochistic sexual acts or abuse; or lewd exhibitions of the genitals, pubic area, buttocks, or post-pubertal female breast, and
  • C. a reasonable person would find, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, historical, political, or scientific value. .
10. Public verses Private Communities: PaganSpace.net is an open public community, which means all content on this website is viewable and accessable to all search engines. We have the option of making this a public community, a semi-private community (which means that only the front page is accessable to non-members) or a private community (which means that any non-member will only see a sign-up page upon reaching our domain name). This community will remain a public, open community because we feel that it can function as an educational and informative website for the public (i.e. non-members).

11. We are not a dating service: If you happen to meet someone in this community that becomes the love of your life, we are happy for you. Yet, please refrain from openly broadcasting your wishes for a mate in our Articles/Forums, Messaging System, Groups (unless it is a group designed for that) and Public Announcement Section. On a related, yet different note: If you are getting married or handfasted etc. then by all means share that with the community through our announcements, we love to hear news such as this.

12. Mass Message Feature (private messaging and groups): Please refrain from abusing this feature. There is a difference between corresponding with your friends and spamming. (Ning Community Owners & other social site owners see #21)

13. Leaving the community: If you decide that this is not the place for you, please feel free to let your friends know where you can be contacted. Yet, if you make a public display of your intentions to leave whether it be a dramatic display or just a simple heads up, then please remove your profile within 24 hours. If you do not we will remove it for you.

14. Banning Members: When we remove a person from this community our only clickable removal options are "Ban this member from the community" which is found on every person's persons profile page. Or in our administrator area it states "Ban Member". Now personally, I would like to have the option of just "deleting" a member but for now our only option to remove a profile is to click "ban". Don't blame the messenger, we did not create that part of the network infrastructure. We understand the word "ban" is just one of those abrasive terms together with the re-entry "you've been banned" screen that is displayed when a banned member tries to access the community.Although, on that screen is a link to contact us which can be used to communicate with the administrators. This helps both the former member and the admins continue a dialog if need be. We are very fair, if a member must be removed from this community for a violation, then we are always open to communicating with them and coming to a resolve if possible.

15. Groups: We have many groups here at PaganSpace.net; the groups are here as a service to all the members. You can have your group as a public group, which means it's open to viewing by the public. You can also choose to have a private group (not viewable to the public).

Groups can be set up for members to apply for membership or by invitation only (ie: if you do not invite someone they cannot access it).

16. Member Involvement with possible violations: If you happen upon a page etc. that you feel violates our terms, then contact us. There is a link at the bottom of every page on this website that states "Report an Issue". Every complaint that comes into this community is addressed; we may or may not respond to you personally. Do not take this as we do not care, we do not like you or in any other manner. On a normal day, it is infrequent that we receive complaints against members or website related issues: If an issue is related to a member's personal controls or pages; we will respond and make every attempt to aide the member in fixing the issue, or (ie: Glitches, bugs etc.). Please refrain in a public or private manner from addressing members which you feel have possibly violated any terms, this only causes unneccessary or problematic issues or attention for both you and the member. Contact us, do not play judge and jury or act as the PaganSpace.net Policy Police.

17. Personal Links on Profile Pages: Feel free to place your website links and images on your pages. Yet links to potentially damaging, spyware, scam related, pornographic, unlawful or illegal websites is prohibited. Further legal information on this is found below in the legal terminology section.

18. Sex Offenders are not permitted to become members of this community. If you have information regarding a sex offender being listed as a member of this community please submit the information to us immediately.

19. Do not engage in any unlawful or illegal activities. I do not really believe this requires further explanation but if you are unsure then information is found below in the legal terms and guidelines.

20. Videos: You are free to utilize You Tube, Google Videos and other video platforms that work within this website. Please do not upload videos to the server, if we find the upload utility was used we can remove the videos from the server without notice to the member.

21. Other community owners: We are very happy to have other community owners here who wish to interact, make friends and discuss topic. However, if a outside community owner is only here to gain members for their communities than that is not acceptable. As a community owner you are free to place links on your pages for your community and you are even welcome to post an announcement about it as well. Yet, do not mass message our members with invites, or use other means such as comments, messenger/chat or the discussions area to promote your Ning Community. If you want to flash it in front of the entire community daily then advertise it as our other advertisers do. If you violate this we will be forced to ban your membership, as we have had numerous issues with this in the past and we do not go to other communities and harvest members thus, we expect the same respect in this place..

22. Undermining The Community: In the past we have had some issues arise where members attempted to lead other members to believe that if they had an issue or disagreement with an admin or owner in a discussion etc. that they may be in jeopardy of being banned. From a common sense point of view, the fact that they are messaging people likely negates the claim of their possible impending victimization all together. If we need to ban someone, we do and I can assure you that if that be the case it's done at that time. So take note that this type of messaging activity is nothing more than drama and attention seeking gossip which is an attempt to undermine what this community is about ie: Bringing People Together. Further, we disagree with people all the time but unless it is something that violates our rules, we could really care less about someone's personal opinion in a discussion. We are fair, sometimes overly fair and we do not abuse the power we have, which is likely why this community grows and thrives everyday.

Okay that's it for now :-) Enjoy your time here, meet others and have fun!
