One of the things I've been doing from time to time is exchanging "bumpers" with other podcasts. Rather than using a generic promo, we exchange clips that are specific to the other podcast.
For example, I recently did one with the "Magical Earth" podcast. They sent me one where they basically said "hi, this is name, name and name from a Magical Earth, and you are listening to Peter Paddon of the Crooked Path." It is a techniquye radio stations use, getting artists they interview to record them and playing them randomly as station identifiers.
They make a great lead-in to a podcast... play the bumper from another podcast, leading into your intro music. They also promote community between the podcasts.
