This is amazingly helpful. The point you made Dusty, regarding all are useful but they arrive to the same truth, via different roads...that pretty much ended my internal debate on which is the truth. I can chart all and see different roads (or as I always see my path...branches on my tree of life) that will bring me to my own truth in this existence. Thank you very much.Now...to have a proper chart done...western, vedic...etc. =) Time to climb

Good question Raven. Great answer GCW.

Vedic astrology is a science unto itself. You have to look at it completely differently from Western astrology. You can't say I thought I was an Aquarius but now I am a Horse. You would instead say: I am a Horse (Chinese) Aquarius (Western). Otherwise you are inserting the gods of one system of belief into a different religion. "Odin is talking to Thor one day and Coyote walks in." See? It doesn't work. As to the "more accurate" claim. I doubt that. I do know that too many Western astrologers simply do not UNDERSTAND astrology. They know the words and the formulas and like a parrot they can recite statistics, but you must FEEL astrology, you must breathe it in and out, no matter what brand you use. If you want a Vedic chart done, you really need to sit down with someone who has studied it for decades and can tell you all kinds of stuff about you (not just assign you new labels). Vedic follows the constellations, whereas Western follows "today," being the EARTH energy, not energy assigned by distant stars. They both are extremely useful, but they arrive at the truth by use of different roads.

Vedic is from India. It isn't any more accurate than western. There is really 13 constellations that the sun goes through. Our calendar doesn't make it great for astrology. The moon stays in one constellation 2.5 days in a month. You really need to know both astronomy & astrology to really do a great chart & I along with others, are trying to come up with a great name & personality of the 13th. Astrology is ever changing.

Not sure if this topic has come up before(new to this group, so please forgive my newbiness), but have questions on Vedic Astrology. A friend of mine told me it was more accurate then the western astrology we tend to use. I did a free online vedic chart. Said I was a gemini. Western astrology- Aquarian (cusp of pisces with double cancer...yep-therapy sessions). Anyone have thoughts on the two forms? Is one more accurate then the other?

Merry Meet all. This is Gypsy Greenwood here. I've been a professional astrologer since 1981 under two other names, both non-craft. I am a western, tropical astrologer who has taught and counseled throughout the USA. I also have one book published. It deals not with personal astrology but with the general effect of the star Sirius, according to antiquity.

Well, so here we are in the midst of the long-lasting Saturn-Uranus opposition. This is quite a power house for everyone. I feel it particularly, for in my natal chart, I am attuned to the Saturn-Uranus cycle by virtue of having been born at the exact waning square of 1951.

Of my own transits, I am currently having Pluto sextile my Venus, so here I am to socialize. Yes, my Venus is in Scorpio. That should fit in fine here!

I'll see what's up here. I hope to add some useful information.

okay I uploaded my natal chart into my profile because I could not figure out how to get it to show up here the way that I am doing it, so... (As for my roommates chart, I'm not comfortable with posting on my profile. It isn't mine, therefore... You understand.) But as for my chart, I find it very intriguing, and hopefully you can see why I am at a loss at the moment!)
