Hello all, hope everyone has been doing well.

Njord is a sea god, he controls winds, waves, and fire. He is known as a god of wealth, as well as a patron fisherman and sailors historically. He is a very different type of god from the Aesir. He has been called by some as a very passive male figure, and even accused by Loki if being unmanly in behavior. It is said he fathered Frey and Freyja with his own sister (Nerthus?), and some say Skadi is a possible mother but several accounts in the lore make contradictory statements about this. Nerthus is a female deity which we know only from the writings of the Roman Tacitus. She is associated with Njordr due to etymological issue, essentially Nerthus and Njord are simply masculine and feminine forms of the same name. This has led many to speculate that Nerthus and Njord may have at one point been an androgynous deity or that sometime during prehistory the figure of Nerthus shifted into a male deity called Njord due to cultural changes and evolution.

It sounds to me as though She is seriously working on becoming on becoming your patroness.  The Vanir strike me as being much more (excuse please the pun) "down-to-earth."  I'm not a farmer, and I am 2 generations removed from being in a farming family, but my dad did work in agri-business for most of his adult career.  Does that count?    I did some research on my legal surname, and learned that it comes from old Norse for "small farm or farmstead."   It is also a place name in southern Norway, in the Trondheim region.

Yes, I know.  Most heathens are naturally drawn to the Aesir.  As for me, I am not entirely sure why  I am drawn to the Vanir.  I suppose the simplest answer is I have multiple synchronicities at work.

My relationship with Freyja started about year and half ago.  Mostly from the love perspective but I could feel there was much more to The Lady than the popular version.  Later I learned She is a very capable warrior and witch.  Beyond that, there seems to be another familiarity I can’t quite understand or explain.  Most lore is about the Aesir, yet the Vanir are said to be equal.  I sense there is more just outside of what I can comprehend at this time.

While in mediation and prayer Freyja, more than once, has advised I consult her Father, Njord.  I am guessing this has something to do with my current situation in life.  The rest I have yet to understand.  Out of all the gods or goddesses, Freyja is the one constant.  I am not sure I would call Her my patron as yet.  I suppose it depends on how you define patron.  Regardless I have great deal of thankfulness, love, and respect for all She has done for me.

How did the Vanir, rather than the Aesir happen to call you?  Freyja called to me because of what she stands for, love, fertility, which to the Norse meant prosperity, and most of all, magick and Witchcraft.

There doesn't seem to be much activity hear...  Hear goes nothing.  I was in mediation and Freya suggested I pray to her father, Njord.  I don't know much about Njord.  Does anyone have suggestions, UPG and/or in the lore?

I don't know what took me so long to find this group, when one of my patroness Goddesses is Freyja.
