Hello to All...

This is the artist formerly known as Prince!

Just kidding, this is the person formerly known as Stacy-of-Umpqua and I have undergone a name change to "Moon Rain." (Yes, I know that it doesn't rain on our Moon).

Hope that it's not too confusing, but Stacy-of-Umpqua just doesn't resonate well with me.

Greeting everyone! I just joined and I'm very happy to be here. I love candles and how cool would it be if I can learn how to make them!

If you want to try a different candle, then try making an ice candle. take a pint or a quart or even a half gallon milk carton. Not the jug type, but the square carton type. after cleaning it open the top fully.weight your wick with a flat washer to the bottom adding just enough wax to form a base.when the wax sets enough pull till straight.tie to a pencil laid across the top of the open carton.poor just enough wax down the wick so it remain centered and stiff. Next add ice cubes till just below the top of the carton.(you can buy the rubber shaped ice trays just about anywhere.mixing shapes just add to the whole look.)quickly poor the rest of your wax over the ice all the way to the top.let set over night.when you cut the carton away it is best to set it in the sink as the water will come pouring out.let the candle dry a few days before burning.best to burn on a large plate as the melting wax will travel out several holes left by the ice.hope you enjoy it.

try on line suppliers. wholesale. you can buy dipping tanks for making taper candles. mine makes ten tapers at a time.they also have choices in wax type and a place like wellington fragrance list the type of oils with a large list of fragrances. when you buy your wax they will tell you the proper melting point for each style of wax.you can also fine a wide selection of molds if you want other than tapers.

Hey, I go through a huge number of candles on the altar. It seems to be getting harder to find them without petroleum products. I could use a few tips to get started making my own. Any sages out there?
