"Empathy is the capacity to recognize or understand another's state of mind or emotion. It is often characterized as the ability to "put oneself into another's shoes", or to in some way experience the outlook or emotions of another being within oneself. Empathy does not necessarily imply compassion, because this capacity can be present in context of compassionate or cruel behavior."

We emphasize a positive learning environment here with patience and understanding for the members who are trying to understand themselves and "tune in" and welcome advice from the experienced members of the group. No question is ignored. We are like a family here and respect is given to ALL who join. This group is monitored actively to ensure our happiness and comfort within the group.

Why Empaths have to be picky about what they let come home with them! LOL!

Comment by Lillyana 9 hours ago: this one's for rebecka. have you ever tried to remove the headache by pulling it out. getting headaches despite shielding can happen. its pretty much just the emotions bouncing off your shields. since this is pretty much innevitable all you can do is try to help the headache. if you are familiar with energy work try to envision the headache as a ball of energy or even as a ball of string. gently remove it piece by piece so as not to over tax yourself. it may or may not work but its worth a try.

Comment by Rebecka Haliwell on October 27, 2009 at 8:37pm: can someone help me figure out a way to keep from getting a headache around certain people when they are stressed? It happenes even when I have my shield up. I've had one for three hours now and I can't get rid of it.

I work in the medical field so when i start feeling my patients pain i know i need to refocus. otherwise i am my strongest with the emotions left behind on objects.

Comment by Rebecka Haliwell on September 23, 2009 at 4:35pm: I found out recently that I am a telepathic Empath. And, I magnify the feelings I get from others. That's probably why I've had so many problems trying to control my ability. Also, I got my shield up!! That made me a very happy person. Now, I don't have to worry as much about trying to block the feelings I get from others and trying to figure out if they're my own or not. YAY!

Comment by Desert Fire on September 23, 2009 at 9:42am: ahhhh talking about working the empath controls..i have written a short story called, "the journey of an empath" that talks about what i went through and how i began to know who i am and how to manage the controls in helping others and not feel everything from everyone. i not only picked it up from others, it became my emotions until i learned to work the controls...good story its in my published book, however, i often share that story with other empaths.
