Freya and Feminine Power

She encourages us to stand up and claim our power without apology. She reminds us to hold our heads high in supreme confidence of our beauty and hearts. She is unfaltering in her quest to obtain the dreams and desires of her heart, a powerful example for us. Possessing the gifts of magickal power as well as physical might, she is equal to any, male or female. Her sexuality is the fire of purest passion, and without shame.

This is not an Asatru group. This is not a Vanatru group. This not a Wiccan, Pagan, Heathen, or Northern tradition group. This is a group for Anyone and Everyone who wishes to share and discuss the Goddess Freyja, regardless of what you label yourself, or what others may label you.

If you are bothered by the open exchange of diverse opinion, and wish for a world in which everyone agrees with you, I encourage you to find the nearest...

Oh and btw as a DISCLAIMER if someone has a problem with the fact that I have not given artist credit for images I would add that these images are royalty free images from deviant art that the authors have chosen to share freely with the public. Those that are not royalty free have copyright or author signatures posted on the art work itself.

A Different look at Freyja

Started by Venu Kuruganti Apr 12. 0 Replies

Men can be drawn to Freyja more than women. And men can go before her naked because in their life, two women see them naked, mother and lover. Freyja the Enchantress is both and thus there is no shame in her seeing you naked without judging you.…Continue

An excellent book for any follower of Freya is "Witchdom of the True" by Edred Thorrson. Although the prices of used copies are skyhigh.

Then I move on to thanking them and asking for their wisdom and help in making me a stronger person in manners according to their purview.  Be careful with this, because having them make you stronger usually means they send trials your way in the areas you are weak in, in order to build your strength in that area.  Be sure you want it.

I think she's already sent a lot of trials my way. But at the same time, she has been a good teacher and taught me to think independently and has rewarded me whenever I made the right choice!

I don't think she's much of a beer person though Einherjar. Seems to me she might like Old World Mead or Alcoholic Cider or something. Beer seems too.....gauche! :-D

Thanks for the big post. Clears up a lot of confusion!

Freyja seems to like blood.  In the story of when she ventures forth to obtain Ottar's lineage for him to take his place as royalty, it's said he sacrificed to her so much that his altar was always slick with blood.  Now it's my opinion that one should use their own blood (a small cut down in the fleshy part of the thumb usually produces a good amount of blood, but doesn't hurt so much and is easy to stop the bleeding), rather than something else's blood.

Drink offerings are always appropriate.  For some reason I see Freyja as more of a beer girl than wine.  Use good beer, I don't think it very respectful to offer Budweiser to the gods!  LOL  Typically a drink offering is passed around for everyone to take a drink from and the remainder is poured on the ground as a sacrifice (basically, giving that god a drink).

Other things for Freyja:  since she likes cats, if you know of any stray cats, leave a small bowl of cream out for them where they can find it.  You don't need to own a cat to be nice to them.

Freyja is not only Valfreyja, she's also a fertility goddess.  You can make sex an act of worship.  If your partner isn't into the same religious practice as you, then arrange it with Freyja that you are dedicating it to her, and basically treat your partner as if she is the goddess while "doing it" -- although if she doesn't know what you are doing, I'd advise against yelling Freyja's name, LOL.

On a typical blot to any god, I generally start out singing a song or two that are either about them, or remind me of them to invite them in.  Then I read a poem I wrote for them.  I read one I already wrote, or if I get inspired to write a new one before the Blot, I'll read the new one.

Then, I do the honorifics such as my sacrifice and any other formal proceedings.

Then I move on to thanking them and asking for their wisdom and help in making me a stronger person in manners according to their purview.  Be careful with this, because having them make you stronger usually means they send trials your way in the areas you are weak in, in order to build your strength in that area.  Be sure you want it.

Then as I do the drink offering, I talk to them as if we are just friends shooting the breeze.  Since I am solitary, I drink half of my horn, and then pour the rest for them.

When done I thank them for their time, give them a "Heil [god name]!" and close the ceremony.

There are many ways to blot and that just how I tend to write mine.  IMO a personally written one carries more meaning for the solitary.  The fancier rituals are better for large gatherings.

For the larger ceremonies, a good book to pick up is the AFA Book of Blotar, that you can order off Amazon, as well as other sources.

Argh! Sorry people! I was also busy doing stuff. Lady Lycan Vamp, thank you for the advice. However, I'm a beginner in the worship so if you could just give me some directions or point me in the right direction I would be ever so grateful. And since Freyja is a Germanic Goddess (Nordic is also mentioned sometimes) I think she would be happy that I'm learning German. Been taking classes all the while now.

yes, you can be yourself! gift her with mead or honey perhaps. and stand up when doing rituals with her. I am sure Cena has some great ideas. Personally I just speak to her as if she were a friend, but with respect.
