Comment by Pat Miller on June 18, 2012 at 1:49pm Josephine: did you know that tobacco is related to the tomato? Peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and the nightshade plant are all related. The plant itself is poison...not the fruit. Salt will kill soil. All things in moderation. Tobacco should be put out as bait and not broadcast.
Comment by Jo on June 18, 2012 at 12:14pm The tobacco should be used with care. it can kill tomatoes. We use salt
Comment by Pat Miller on June 18, 2012 at 9:24am Demeter...beer that has gone flat will drown them and sterilize them. Just save some, put it in a shallow tray (like a jar lid) and put the trays around your garden. They love it and they die. Tobacco also works, but I'm not sure how it would with all the moisture.
Comment by Emris Greenwood on June 18, 2012 at 5:40am Demeter, slugs are very sinsitive to salt are any desiccant that drys out their protective slime coating
Hello everyone
Wondered if anyone knew of anything natural to kill slugs and snails, I've tried most things but still have to resort to the blue pellets, and it doesnt help matters as it is so wet in England at the moment.
They are all over the garden, so nematodes are likely to be too expensive an option, and they dont seem to bother about grit or eggshells around plants either.
Any ideas?
The solstice will soon be upon us so Blessings to all, and hope you have a lovely day, however you celebrate.

Comment by Pat Miller on June 17, 2012 at 2:41pm Tea...you live in Florida where the soil is acid. We live in N. Texas where it is alkaline and lime is alkaline. Not sure what would work here, but the diatomoceous earth is used the same if put on the lawn that way. Maybe lime is not effected by water though.

Comment by Tea on June 16, 2012 at 5:14pm I use Brews Yest crushed in my Animals foods for Flea, and yes I have asked my Vet about this, he said it works great, just take a tabit for it to build up in the animals system.
For my yard and Fleas along with other little vermits that likes to attach themselves to animals and bring them inside and we have deal with the. My vet said to use something great for the yard and it is 100% natural. You will need a dust spreader for outside, mine is only a push style spreader that you dump the Dust into, then just start walking and it Spreads the dust out. The Dust in all 100% natural and it is called Lime Dust, it will hurt anyone or any critters, but you will also have a beautiful Green Lush looking Lawn.
As much as I hate Mining, I get this stuff free from one of the local Lime Mining Fields here in my area. Now you can buy it at Walmart or any Local Gardening shop. Also Please read the thread that Christine has put up, I had a Chat with my Vet and Regular MD's about this and they all said it is all 100% correct and no harm will come if used in the home or in the Out doors. http://www.paganspace.net/group/gardenofhealingherbs/forum/topics/n...
I would like everyone here to send a prayer for Christine's son who got Ill this past week. Please light a candle for healing on this little one. Christine will be back online in a day or so, but her son still needs us all.
Blessings,
~Tea~
