Hi! Everyone. I'm back after such a long time. The group looks great. I have a lot of catch up to do. I have been ill a long time. I have had major computer problems. These issues are in the past for now. I hope you all will join my group page and our 40 groups that Abbott'sinn International has on this network. I plan to be posting here soon. Take Care and Blessed Be to you all. AD(arch-druid) Stephen. Peace! Peace! Peace!

Our group is very selective in the transmission of the knowledge and sometimes we hold classes on short notice, the sign language allows us to communicate place and time to fellow members in any setting tha is too public fae verbal and we dinnae give the info over the phones as phones can be overheard.

I still don't understand... why does it become necessary to a) identify oneself in that fashion, or b) to communicate this information in front of others. I guess frankly what I'm asking is do you have an actual unavoidable NEED for this, or is it simply for the thrill of having a secret mode of communication that you have no real need for? And if you do have an actual need, might you describe the circumstances that prompted you to use this?

We use it to identify one another much the same as the Massonic Order use their secret handshake. We also can communicate place and time of special events in the grove.

Sir Raibeart,

I have heard of Ogam sign language. It is featured in "The Encyclopedia of Celtic Wisdom" by the Matthews. But I must ask... what kind of things would you be needing to communicate secretly in front of outsiders? I have never used Ogam sign language because I have never had a need to make such secret communications in front of others. If it is not too much to ask, what kind of secret information do you need to communicate in front of other people like that?

Several in the Local Grove and I use Ogham sign language to communicate privately when around those nae of our Grove. It works out well. Do any of the rest of ye use it? Please share yer experiences in it.

I see this group has gone silent for some time now. Perhaps we can start to revive it. I have posted a link to an original contribution I've made to Ogam research. I would be glad to start to discuss this and, I think, it is something that could lead into more frequent and deeper discussions about the nature and purpose of Ogam.
