Our little group loves to play games on Samhain night before our ritual. I am running out of ideals. We've done "pin the wart on the witch", "pin the nose on the pumpkin" Blind fold them and have them draw either a pumpkin or bat on construction paper. They always want a pinata. No one else is willing to help me with finding the games. Any ideals? Thanks for reading this.

Halloween charades, Scary movie trivia, Halloween pictionary, Alien Autopsy game (It's like Operation) LOL...it scares the crap out of you when it screams. You can always do the blindfold thing and pass around stuff like slimy spaghetti and peeled grapes...tell them it's the veins of a mummy and eyeballs, etc. (If you're talking kids). Give them rolls of toilet paper and let them wrap themselves up like mummies.
There is a game you can play, where you take it in turns to pass a balloon from between your knees/thighs front to back to someone else's (No hands allowed.) Imagine two teams or lines of people, trying to get as many balloons across a room in say 10 minutes, with a suitable forfeit for the losing team.
The phallic long balloons are best, hilarity soon ensues.
You could draw ghostly faces on the balloons with a permanent marker. and anyone dropping or bursting the balloon, has to take a forfeit from a hat or basket written on a piece of folded paper to be paid later on in the evening. And that balloon is disallowed and it's journey must start again.
Hi lady Sorce, you could try the ancient English game of Pumpkin fettlin?
This is better in a hall,or barn, but can be done outside if you have tree above.
First, take one large pumpkin (bigger the better), make a hole through, top to bottom, to allow a rope to be passed through, and tied off below with a small stickto stop it cutting into the pumpkin.
Throw rope over tree branch/barn cross rafters, until it swings freely as a pendulum.
Take 6 log rounds about 12 inches high, slightly wobbly better than even, or 6 bricks.
You call for 6 volunteeers, who stand on the log/bricks - once on them they cannot get off until game ends.
One person volunteers as "fettler", and is blindfolded, after being turned 3 times deosil, 3 times widdershins, to disorientate them, and prevent accurate assessment of where the other 6 are positioned.
A helper draws back the pumpkin, places it in the "fettlers" hands, and they then try to bowl over the other 6 on the logs/bricks.
The 6 on the logs/bricks, can move sideways, or stand on one leg to avoid being flattened by the swinging pumpkin, but once one leg leaves the log or brick, they must then remain on one leg until the game ends, or they fall off!
Last man standing on the log/brick is the winner.
We usually give the "fettler" a bottle of wine, and also last man standing, and if its kids, a large chocolate bar, and a tin of sweets to last man standing.
Great fun for everyone.
Heres some pictures from last years Samhain bash, with the game in play.
Have a wonderful Samhain, blessings of light, love and peace,
Magister.
