Horary and Electional Astrology


Horary and Electional Astrology are the most fundamental branches of Astrology and the Astrology most meant for helping the little guy on the street so to speak. It is where the basics are learned by a Traditional Astrologer and it is what all the past Masters practiced more of than the now popular Natal Astrology of looking at the birth chart of a person.

Horary Astrology comprises the erecting of a chart, at the moment a question is clearly stated AND understood by the Astrologer, The “birth” of this question, being established shows the magic contained in this moment. All the Astrologer must do is apply well-established methodology and technique to answer any question before him/her.

Since in the past, most of the human population did not keep accurate records of birth times most of the Astrology practiced would have been Horary. It is a form of Divination and therefore relies on a belief in Divine Order. This explains why folks steeped in Darwinism, Atheism, Nietzsche and most modern thought will struggle with the validity of Astrology. It is also the branch spoken against in the Christian Bible because of alleged abuse. In the Holy Qur’an it came with a warning from the Angels that gave to Man this Divine wisdom.

Not all questions posed may be answered. The Tradition is clear on this, and the ways to judge a chart for that are simple. Electional Astrology is the next branch up the ladder in the hierarchy of the Art, really a mirror of Horary. Horary seeks an outcome to a question posed, while Electional seeks a time for a known event or outcome. A horary question could be “Will I get married this year?” The electional question is: “When is the best time for me to get married this year?” I hope this helps. Thank you all for joining! =) I think I'm going to post a Discussion in the Forum about what exactly is Horary Astrology just in case anyone is not too familiar with the topic! With Horary Astrology we can ask questions such as outlooks on romance, or even trying to find your darn keys again! I posted "Horary Practice ~ 2012" regarding the date of 12/21/2012 which marks the end of the Mayan Calendar (a calendar even more precise than our own). To me, aspects look bleak but check it out for sure!!
