thanx for the invite, Azraelwitch. I mainly work with Lady Hekate, but lately been drawn to Isis.....only to realize it's not Isis, but her twin sister. I just started studying about, Nephthys a few days ago....then you send me this invite...hmmmm :) a mere coincidence? I wonder....

Absolutly! Nepthys is my fave. there is so little that survived about her, I think we can all project a piece of ourselves on her and feel a connection.

Thank you for clearing that up a bit Adrienne. There are so many version of everything in Egyptian lore, a side affevt of being aroud so long I suppose. A lover like Set would most likely drive me nuts.

Nepthys be with me and with in me.
Nepthys be before and beside me.
Nepthys to win me, Nepthys to comfort and restore me.
Nepthys beneath me and above.
Nepthys in quiet and danger.
Nepthys in the hearts that love me.
Nepthys in the mouth of friends and strangers.
Nepthys bring me to change, bring me to death so I may emerge stronger.

-A tweaked version of St Patricks breastplate. I made it before I decided to work with my ancestrial gods and wights. i'm not sure about the end. She still rocks though. Thanks again Adrienne.

Ps. at certain times Set is at the head of Ra's boat to fight Apep, so maybe what you need to think about is Set's duality and his ability to be protective of his father.

Sally, in some versions of the myth Nepthys DOESN"T go against her brother, Isis helps dress Nepthys as herself and takes her to Osiris so Nepthys can have a child. And if you've ever dated that one person who has the crazy mood swings and drives you up a wall but you have a hard atttachment to them, you can imagine how Nepthys felt with Set.
I've been there. I have a close connection to her because of theat.

I have no idea why I'm drawn to Nepthys but I am. It seems strang to me to be drawn to beings who do things against my morals like trick Osiris. I'm also drawn to Set, go figure. Maybe that's a sign I need to do some soul searching.

A prayer to Nephthys for working with the Ptolemies

O Nephthys, dark-eyed goddess with bandages for hair
and a face so etched with sorrow that it resembles the desert’s barren earth.
Good sister who sat in protective vigil over the slain one
until none of his scattered members remained hidden.
She whose tears are myrrh and frankincense
and all the precious ointments used to ready the body for eternity.
Mistress with voice of the screech owl,
who drinks blood for her wine,
keeper of the mysteries
whose secret name is Finality.
Hear my prayer, O friend of the dead,
who crosses the river that cannot be crossed
on wings of blackest night,
and holds the keys to hell
and the knowledge of how to use them.
Walk with me when I go to the place where the Ptolemies dwell,
Kings still in the land of shadows and ash.
Hold back the frightening specters so that I, in peace,
may approach the great ancestral spirits
bearing the customary offerings of beer and cool water,
a loaf of good bread and meat of fatted cattle.
Open their ears that they might hear my prayers
and know that I have kept their memory alive here on earth.

An Egyptian themed dance! Usually I see women with the Isis design but this woman is wearing a Nephthys design. A nice way to honor her.
