This Saturday, June 20th, the Jacksonville Pagan Pride Alliance will be celebrating the Summer Solstice. Also called Litha or Midsummer, it is the longest day of the year and life and light are abundant. The Sun God has reached his greatest strength, beaming down in His golden glory and yet He still can be found among us in the deepest, darkest, greenest woods. A celebration of the Sun God is perfect timing for Father's Day as well, isn't it?
In fact, our ritual theme this time will be "A Father's Day Blessing." (No, you need not be a father or bring a father to come and celebrate the summer blessings of the Lord and Lady with us - we are all their children!) Our potluck theme will be "Summer Picnic Foods".
We will be gathering at Tillie Fowler Park (7000 Roosevelt Boulevard aka SR-17), across from NAS Jax. We meet, as always, by the playground bathrooms, under the trees.
Please meet us there at 10:30 a.m. and ritual will begin at 11:00 a.m. The whole family and their friends are welcome, even well-behaved dogs on leashes (don't forget their water bowls!). We will be having a piñata for the kids (and kids at heart) and a craft for all.
What do you bring? Something for the potluck, of course, a camp chair if you don't care for picnic benches (optional), and yourself!
Any questions? Please either join our list or contact one of us below.
