Aww Shoot, I'm "obligated" to attend the Orthodox Easter Celebration at my mothers church (my father used to be the priest there). I HAVE to go to that...

I know Northfield is hardly part of the metro area, but the Reformed Druids of North America is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend at the Carleton College Arboretum, with several in attendance that were there since the beginning. I'm technically the event host which is a great honor, and there's an open-invite for this free event at https://www.facebook.com/events/531484026897262/

Is there anything going on in the Metro area for Beltane?

Although it's certainly not the majority, there are many Northern Folk who embrace the magical tradition. Those in the Asatru community might experience these people less often since they tend to hang out more with other magickal practitioners, but even amongst the folk, there are exceptions like Kari Tauring who is deeply involved with the shamanic traditions. So although it is not generally publicized, it's certainly there for those who look.

In other news, The Galdrabok had a limited 2nd edition reprinting! I just got my copy from Amazon recently.

It's based on some Icelandic and Germanic grimoires that were historic and legit. Lots of incantations, lots blended with Christian themes (probably to "mask" the magick) and a huge portion of it is Galdrastafir or sigil magic.

It seems that Asatru does not incorporate the use of Icelandic Magical Staves, understandably so because *most* of the oldest grimoires are only about 400 years old, the oldest sources being from the late medieval period.

I noticed Wikipedia has a really shabby article on the topic, but has a few examples of some of the staves.

No Witch-Wars, please. We can be better than that. I'm not being fluffy here, but rather pragmatic.

And I have rebuilt that group in a positive way which is waht I had intended on doing to begin with but there were those who were power hungry and did not want the group to be anything more than a social outlet where I have the vision to make it a physical location for all pagans to gather and eventually it will come to light. Some people do not like the face that I am not afraid to come out and say who I am which i am proud of. I am no parasite but I am a good person who wants to see the pagan community come together in a positive manner.

JRob by even discussing the issue with Lynn you are giving him credence he does not deserve. There were a large number of Saint Cloud Pagans who separated from his group with good reason.

Also, those from St. Cloud and Mankato are welcome to attend Minnesota's original Coffee Cauldron here in the Twin Cities. In answer to John, no Coffee Cauldron is not a ubiquitous term for such gatherings. Regular Pagan gatherings throughout the nation have a variety of creative names, such as Omaha's Pagans For Pie. I've heard of a Weekly Witch Hunt, Pagans in the Park, Pagan Night Out,  and other creative combinations which are momentarily slipping my mind. Some people are just more creative then others.
