wow, i'm happy to have just found this group. i'm a marriage and family therapist intern (nearly done with my post-grad hours, mentally preparing to begin studying for that blasted exam). as far as i'm aware, i personally haven't found any pagan therapists to connect with...am considering someday starting a practice that is pagan and paranormal friendly. would love to connect to like minded folks...

Has anyone any ideas of how to keep counseling others when one is going through issues oneself? I was considering expanding my crisis counseling but when my best friend and priestess and sister all died within a few weeks of each other it caused me to wonder how I would counsel people in a disaster that encompassed me. I can counsel when I can separate to some extent, but from within?

Just a thought.

I too am now returning to school to get a piece of paper to allow me to do "professionally" what I have done all my life and up to about 7 years ago as case manager working with dual diagnosis veterans but can't find work here in GA even with 12 years experience without that paper..

This is a place that could be such a help to so many people

I am often called upon to aid and to counsel and have been for years. I stay out of trouble with the licensing boards because I call myself a Spiritual Counselor I am even considering going back to school to get a Licensing Certificate. So I have the paper that says I can do what I already do.

hi - I am not a licensed counselor though I was considering looking into becoming a life coach - if I can figure out what all that entails...

I have a BA in both general science and psychology, minor in biology; and some graduate level work in both mental health counseling (more than half done) and educational psychology (three fourths done with some overlapping classwork) - yes I was working on both simultaneously. For health reasons and for family reasons concerning my kid, I had to discontinue my coursework.

Now - it has been long enough I expect I would have to reapply and start over on the classwork to get that MA/MAE and honestly, I am not moved to do so.

Thing is, everyone wants my advice - my friends, my kid's friends, my hubby's friends, internet friends, people I don't even know like the nice waitress at the IHOP who I only met once. And I constantly find myself giving advice even when it isn't asked for. Can't seem to stop myself. So, I figure there is something I am supposed to be doing in this direction.

Anyone know how I go about finding out how to become a life coach without my having to go back to school again?

Delta, I am not a licensed counselor but am the ear or shoulder for many. I think it is a great idea that you have. It is difficult for people that have gifts to go to someone and discuss them for fear of being commited. There are alot of young people out there that have no one to talk to and their parents, who usually don't believe as we do, are full of fear. Most do not know how to handle it and don't really know what to do. There is a woman that is a psychologist that works with Chip Coffee on psychic Kids. We need more like you. Blessed Be

Glad to see this discussion group here... sorry to see that it has so little activity. I am wondering after a quick view of the discussion topics, is this a site for spiritual and professional (i.e., licensed by some state) counselors and psychologists, a place where people can go for help, or both? I am a soon-to-graduate clinical psychology student, hoping to set up a pagan friendly practice sometime next year. I sure would like to have some ongoing contact with other pagan counselors.
