You gratify me like the oceans, I want to sink into you and be…just be.
You are vast, brimming with life
and your breath is sweet.
I am drunk with ecstasy.
We are one.
The sun, the moon, clouds and rain,
I feel something in my heart, it is like a bright flame.
You in me and I in you, we are both together.
In the sun, in the rain.
Together as one, distinct and different
yet at one remain.
Your eyes how they look at me
I see your face when I am dreaming…that is why I wake up screaming…
I love your smile, I love your face
and I love your eyes…
The sun, the moon, the clouds and rain,
cycles of life and death.
Apart – together, together an exhilaration
soon together!
Stars shine from long ago and far away.
The planets reflect the Sun; they go forward and retrograde.
We embrace with melting desire.
For a season we rest, but never retreat
Never truly far from the other.

Why must someone be to blame?
Can’t we move on, surely you can see that things are not the same?
I loved you once this is true, however I do still care even though I am no longer in love with you.
I will miss our friendship that we once had, when did everything go so bad?
I do not know why we grew apart, I do not now how to make this better.
I sit here in the dark, I sit here thinking back through all the years,
The good times, the bad times the longing, the fears.
You have done nothing wrong, we just grew and our paths have lead us different ways…
I hope that somehow you will see this & then we can once again be friends, maybe someday
I will always hold you in my heart, but for now my darling we need to part.
Please know I mean you no harm, I wish nothing but happiness & peace.
This is why I must leave you, I must be free I must do what is in my heart at least.
I will always think of you as you were my first true love, I will never forget what you have given to me.
You gave of yourself all you had so willing, so caring, so unselfishly.
I wish I could feel the way I did, I do not know why…
However I do not & therefor it is now time to say goodbye…

Gente da minha terra - Mariza

Poem: Amalia Rodrigues
Music: Tiago Machado

É meu e vosso este fado (This Fado is both yours and mine)
destino que nos amarra (The destiny that unites us)
por mais que seja negado (No matter how much it is denied)
às cordas de uma guitarra (To the strings of a guitar)

Sempre que se ouve um gemido (Whenever one hears a lament)
duma guitarra a cantar (Of a guitar's song)
fica-se logo perdido (One is instantly lost)
com vontade de chorar (With a longing to weep)

Ó genta da minha terra (Oh people of my land)
agora é que eu percebi (It is now that I have perceived)
esta tristeza que trago (This sadness which I carry)
foi de vós que a recebi (Was from you that I received)

E pareceria ternura (It would seem a kindness)
se eu me deixasse embalar (If I left myself be soothed)
era maior a amargura (The greater the anguish)
menos triste o meu cantar (The less sorrowful my song)

Ó genta da minha terra (Oh people of my land)

Ó genta da minha terra (Oh people of my land)
agora é que eu percebi (It is now that I have perceived)
esta tristeza que trago (This sadness which I carry)
foi de vós que a recebi (Was from you that I received)

April is national poetry month. I am going to make this brief and say e.e. cummings is my favorite, ever, of all time.

I just recently had my poetry book re-published. Of all the ones included in the book this is my favorite. I wrote it for a friend of mine.

To~

beyond illimitable darkness
where firm lips upon flute's wind have flung
speechless notes, bells in spirits are rung.
touching words together unspoken,
alliterate mirrors unbroken.
(if they are spoken, are quaint; quiet.)

in the abyss of omniscient prose,
twisting speaks here my wet silver tongue.
your thoughts on my mind are silky strung
by a mind unaware, deftly honed.
i am left pitiless, overthrown.

While most lines of poetry begin with a capital, I do not always adhere to that rule.

Nacht und Träume - Matthäus Kasimir von Collin

Heil'ge Nacht, du sinkest nieder;
Nieder wallen auch die Träume
Wie dein Mondlicht durch die Räume,
Durch der Menschen stille Brust.
Die belauschen sie mit Lust;
Rufen, wenn der Tag erwacht:
Kehre wieder, holde Nacht!
Holde Träume, kehret wieder!

Night and dreams

Holy night, you sink down;
Dreams also float down
As your moonlight fills the room,
Fills the sleeping hearts of men.
They listen with pleasure;
Crying, when the day awakes:
Return, fair night!
Fair dreams, return!

L´Heure exquise - Paul verlaine

The Exquisite Hour

The pale moon shines in the forest; From each branch sounds a voice beneath the leaves O my dear love. The pond reflects like a deep mirror The silhouette of the black willow Where the wind moans. Let us dream! it is the hour! A vast and tender serenity, seems to descend From the firmament that glows with the light of the moon . . It is the exquisite hour.

In meinem Lieben, in meinem Lied!

I am lost to the world
with which I used to waste so much time,
It has heard nothing from me for so long
that it may very well believe that I am dead!

It is of no consequence to me
Whether it thinks me dead;
I cannot deny it,
for I really am dead to the world.

I am dead to the world's tumult,
And I rest in a quiet realm!
I live alone in my heaven,
In my love and in my song!
