Hi Sara!!!! Great to see you here!

I understand your fear. I've lost friends also. It hurts, of course, but because I am not playing a game, but truly believe that I am learning more and more about life and spirit, I have to let these people go. I can't fight with them over it, there is no winner. And I can't let it stop me from continuing on and learning so I bless them in my heart and move on, hoping they too continue to learn also.

In the past I would have opened up a can of whoop ass, but, it seems that I have matured at least a tiny bit since then and I hope that I continue to do so.

Life is so much more than I ever imagined it could be and for that I am truly grateful! I am so enjoying the chance to learn, the chance I never gave myself when I believed that there was only one way. I'm so over that! LOL Been there, done that....

Ty for sharing with us all Sara and please don't be a stranger!!!

Blessings!

Hello Everyone. I thought i would stop in and relate a bit. It's odd for me, because i don't come from an overly-religious family. I do, however, come from an area of pennsylvania that tends to be very "Christian" in traditions. It creates the problem for me that most of the people in my life are just simply uneducated about the possibility of religion without the Christian god. To them, you are either religious, or not religious. There is no other path to even contemplate. So, although i was not raised Christian, I was raised in a world that was still run by the general "rules" of Christianity. The only sort of Christian guilt that i harbor most days, is more of a fear than a guilt. I fear that in answering the call of my true path, that i may lose relationships with friends and family along the way.

i am enjoying the study of many different beliefs including but not limited to; theosis, gnosticism, sophian gnosticism, esoteric christianity, suffism, mysticisms....
i am amazed that i never knew there were so many beliefs outside of what i was taught myself.
these people are not 'your average xian' by ANY stretch of the imagination and these beliefs are so outside of the norm...

As you can see from my page, I have gotten past my christian guilt and have since incorporated the symbolism of my childhood faith into my pagan practices. This was not always the case. I used to fear even questioning my faith. I thought for sure there was a lightning bolt with my name on it that was on it's way to me if I even so much as wondered about other faiths! But after ten or more years, the fear and guilt is in the past and I am who I am today. I have found my way, and as of today am not only comfortable on my path but am thriving! It is wonderful!
Now I know not everyone is on a similar path to mine, but I just wanted to let you know that it is more than possible to put Christianity behind you and move on without guilt, fear or even anger.
I am very glad to have found this group!
Blessings in Abundance!

greeting fellow brothers and sisters

i was brought up christian(Anglican) but went to a catholic junior school. which incidentally i cannot help but feel was pushed by nan. i was confirmed after doing the 'ALPHA' course,, soon after that i started to see discrepancies in everything. the more i questioned the more they could not answer . so i left after feeling that i had been ostracized from the place

I am finding as I walk this path that the Christian stuff gets farther and farther away--because I've replaced it with a workable pagan worldview. Not to say I don't get kinda peeved when some new Christian nonsense comes out in the papers (LOL, I do), but it doesn't affect me like it used to because it's not "me" anymore. I have something I think is better now. For me, changing my worldview to something that is actually "pagan" has been my foundation for a vibrant and workable pagan journey. I'm not saying that animism is "the only way," just that it has worked well for me. And that it is a "real" earth-based spirituality.

PelesChild, I do see a number of pagans still viewing the world in a very "Christian" way. For me, and I'm sure for others, the Christian worldview is a hindrance on the pagan Path. The one best thing that's helped me is studying the shaman's worldview (animism) and teaching myself to view/think about the world as a shaman would. The shaman's worldview is a truly earth-based/nature-based worldview.

The guilt fades with time. I went through the same thing when I left the Christian Church. I loved being a Pagan and enjoyed my spiritual freedom, but anytime I was reminded of Christianity I was plagued with terrible guilt and doubt. Even though I was a new Pagan, I would still read Christian blogs and opinions, listen to Christian songs, etc. I finally just stopped doing those things and didn't go anywhere near a church. Funny thing, my mind began to heal. Now I can read Christian opinions and hear the music and it usually doesn't bother me. But every once in awhile, those old enemies "Doubt and Guilt" come creeping back. I just do my best to shut them out and move on.

Does anyone have any advice on gettting over all the stuff that was put in our heads? I feel soooo guilty when I get a little witchy, but every autumn I get all magickal and the guilt leaves....what's up with that?

I definitely will fit in with this group. I was raised in a Methodist church until the age of 10 when my mother was diagnosised with cancer and she switched to Pentecostal. I always questioned the Christain faith. A lot of things just did not make sense to me. Disagreeing was of course not tolerated. My journey finally led me to a completely different belief system.
