It has been called to my attention that copyrighted materials are being shared in this group. Sharing copyrighted texts on this site is a violation of the site and network TOS; I could literally be shut down and sued over this type of activity. Not to mention I was a publisher and an author and I cannot begin to explain how this not only violates current copyrighted text laws but it's also highly unfair to the authors who put their time and energy into writing the books.

I will be removing any and all links to copyrighted texts from this group, if it persists then I will have no other choice than to shut the entire group down. I do not want to do that because there is a plethora of texts in public domain and others that are free for sharing that can be shared and accessed online but texts that still maintain their copyrights cannot be given away on this site. If you wish to do that then you will need to utilize another website because I cannot and will not jeopardize this one for that type of activity.

I'm not trying to be harsh here but this really has to cease.

Thanks so much!

David, It is interesting to me that when I legitimately asked you about your motivation and pose a question about whether or not you were trying to drum up PR - - you overreact. It is amusing to me the amount of name calling and stereotyping you are doing based on my responses in a forum and in pm. You did not even bother to read my profile or find anything else out about me from my contributions here in ps to balance your opinion of me, but decided to paint me with your unique brush with very few colours on your palette.

How have I trolled you, may I ask? Trolling means to bait someone into conversing with them and/or uttering inflammatory and derogatory remarks about someone to get a response. I had no idea that you would respond to my further post in this discussion forum and frankly I am surprised that you took the time to do so.

It is you who has engaged me. It is not I that initiated contact with you.

There was also no pairing of an insult with a blessing.

As you can see here:

"this was a very good PR move on your part; to mitigate the effects that you had initiated by telling all your pagan friends that had works for free here in ps while at the same time that the publisher already had a take down order in effect? You didn't want the backlash or did you? Anyway I checked you out and you seem legit. I might pay $6.15 out of curiousity to read one of your books. Happy Hunting on a full moon near Samhain lol"

My blessing was true to form as a compliment because I truly admire your audacity and courage in deciding to call out ps on a full moon - good strategy - nothing more nothing less - this is what I perceived.

What exactly have you "called me out" about, may I ask? That I stand by my position of alternative access to resources for people who cannot afford to purchase their knowledge? Da_n right, I stand by that. While you are deciding who and who should not read your books, please also limit the reach of who reads your books by never having your books available at libraries either,

And still I have no insults to wing back at you and I do not think of you as a villain. I have reserved my judgment of you and will continue to do so, until, such time as I have a better understanding of you.

Neither have I baited you with inflammatory remarks - I simply have stated my position.

BTW - I am even more curious now about reading your, "The Deep Heart of Witchcraft: Expanding the Core of Magickal Practice," maybe I will even post a review of it on Goodreads too. ;)

The only thing I have actually done is reveal your very thin skin. If you take that as an insult that is up to you. It was meant as an observation.

Additionally, if you want to bow out of this thread, I suggest that you click on the left bottom of the comment box where it says, "Stop Following - Don't' email me when people comment." This is what I will do after this last posting.

Let it go brother. Be at peace. Namaste.

Ashtoreth- this is absolutely inarguable. If you've perceived me as being "rude" to you, it is because you are advocating for the theft of copyrighted work and then making ME out to be the villain? How absolutely selfish and entitled of you. I asked you to not read my books because they are about personal responsibility and adulthood- aspects of Craft that you seem to not be interested in.

However you want to spin this and troll me is of no concern. You are in the wrong here and are throwing a tantrum at being called out. Do you want to tell them the insult your "blessing" was paired with?

Please, grow up.

Should I or shouldn't I? Should I reveal what David said in pming me when we have never spoken before or had ANY contact prior - he is rude or maybe just doesn't know pm etiquette and pmed me out of the blue after my forum response posted here in this discussion group.

I will share the gist of it and then run the idea of sharing the whole, actual pm conversation by admin.

Gist is that David waffled in his intentions/motivations of claiming that his prime point of contention was that file sharing of author's works is ILLEGAL but did not elaborate on that and instead used a sympathy ploy to gain my support. He then mixed up the order in which he initiated his aggressive stance with ps. First claiming that he forewarned ps, then contacted other ps members, and then contacted his publisher. This is not the order of events he told me in pm. Hmmm. .. so I tentatively called him out of the possibility of this being a PR move and he promptly denied with emphasis this NOT being a PR move and then ignored me LOL!

Wow - talk about thin skin. Oh yes, he also told me to not read his book because I was not the right kind of person he wanted reading his books - omfg ! So, he not only doesn't want ALL pagans to read his works; he also does not want SOME types of people (that consisting of one person - me apparently) reading his work. Darn now I really am curious about "The Deep Heart of Witchcraft: Expanding the Core of Magickal Practice." My last words to him were in good spirit "Happy Hunting on this full moon near Samhain." No return of blessing - hmm me thinks something is afoot here lol Good Hunting everyone !

Ashtoreth- Just because our books appear in some places (illegally) on the internet doesn't mean it's legal for you to share them or download them. This is not a matter of opinion. It is copyright law.

a) Being pro open-source doesn't mean you have to be pro-stealing.
b) We may not personally, but our publishers do

Im just posting here because Im the first person with books on here who noticed. Also, just because you don't think someone will sue you, you think its OK to continue to break the law? Who exactly do you think you are? If you want books without paying for them, then you should do the research and put in the work to write them yourself. Until then, please stop supporting theft from pagan authors who already make hardly anything from this work when we do get paid for it.

Someone is being quite territorial. Many PDF's listed are already available free of charge on the web anyway just type title and author and add free pdf. Also one provider of uploaded share filing is mediafire and they have a disclaimer: "Any Content uploaded by you to MediaFire becomes published Content and is not considered personally identifiable information subject to this Privacy." Scribd is a paid subscription to then download free pdf's. Amazon Kindle has a monthly membership with unlimited free reading titles. I suspect that these supposed authors of text being offered free here in ps are:

a) taking an ethical stance about copyrights belonging to artist/authors/musicians and are against open source

b) do not have the money to actually sue through the Digital Millennium Copyright Act but are using scare tactics

This person is being equivocal in saying that they are "a big fan of sharing information for free," but yet also at the same time says, "I won't resort to filing a DMCA legal complaint yet, because I think you all will do the right thing."

Something fishy about this whole thing, me thinks

i completely understand were David is coming from the idea if the book is still in print and still with in the copy right time frame pay for it, i myself prefer the physical to the digital.

but i am sorry the moment a lot of these books go out of print, you are looking at having to fork out between 4 to 6 time the original price. and i don't think a dime of that is going to the actual author.

And if it is out of the copy right time frame, the author is usually not still alive. in which case all you are doing is paying some one else who adds a few pages of there opinion to the front of the book.

Please correct me if i am mistaken.
