Yes, I've been keeping up with the V series; not only that, but I'm old enough to remember the "original" (in quotes because the "invasion by human looking nasties" is as old as science fiction --- some of us even remember "The Invaders" in the 60's and the remake with Scott Bakula).

It's OK. It has a slightly different flavor, mostly due to different times I suspect. The actress who plays Anna (the leader of the Visitors) is just surreal; her otherworldly beauty gives an edge to the show that Jane Badler, for all she was sexy as hell, never managed. She puts me in mind of Yancy Butler in "Mann and Machine", young and buffed and playing an android.

The plot is no great shakes, but no one is making a lot of effort over plot either. The scripts from the 80's exist, so it's pretty much "turn the crank"; they aren't wasting a lot of money on writers. The effects are from 2009 rather than the 80's, which is all to the good but isn't a big deal. Some shows are all effects, but this one is the sinister conspiracy. One thing interesting was the interrogation scene; they used some fancy lights and a lot of words in the 80's, but this one had mental projections of whatever a person fears most into his or her mind. Nice. I'll be interested when they come to the mind control scenes (if they follow the old show that closely).

So it's worth a look. It's not one of the science fiction greats (FlashForward is the closest thing to one of those this season) but it's got sexy actors (male and female) who are lizards underneath, mile wide spaceships, and ray guns. What more could a red blooded sci-fi nut want?

Lady Kate, my wife and I have been enjoying V. Neither of us have seen the original, so we can't really compare the two at all.
