India is not only a land of festivals and funerals but a land of superstitions too. Like a lot of spice added in to their food their lives are spiced with strange superstitions. Superstitions actually originated for a purpose but today people practice them even the purpose no longer exists.

Some of the superstitions practiced by the villagers are you must always get out of your bed from the same side as you got in. It is bad luck if you don't. If a black cat walks towards you, then you are going to be lucky, if it walks away from you, then you will be unlucky. Cows raising their tails signal that it is going to rain.

If you need rain, just raise a cow’s tail
If your left ear is itching, someone is speaking ill of you and if your right ear is itching, someone is speaking well of you! If the palm of your left hand itches, then you are going to spend your money and if the palm of your right hand itches, you are going to get some money.
If the bottom of your right foot itches, you are going to travel far. A knife placed under the bed of a woman in labour will ease her pain during delivery. Breaking a mirror may bring bad luck for 7 years. It is considered bad luck to open an Umbrella indoors.
Are you just married? If you are, then cut an apple in two and count the seeds inside - that is how many children you are going to have!
When you sleep, your feet should not point directly to the door, because something can enter through the tip of your toe. People also say that getting hiccups is a sign that someone is remembering you.
When two people say something together then they should quickly touch each others forehead so that the luck is transferred.
Sneezing odd number of times and then leaving the house and going below the ladder is considered bad luck.
