Ann Marie partially answered my question down below! If anyone has anything to add, it would be great too.

I had a question about the fact that some decks have fire for swords and air for wands. An example would be Ellen Cannon Reed's Witches deck. In her book on it she has only one interpretation for each of the two suits. She only has one interpretation for the Waite deck on these suits, which is the same for her deck. How can this be if air and fire have two different meanings? I do have the little book that came with the Waite deck and can't reconcile the two. I am very rusty on the tarot.

I have been reading Tarot cards for several years, but this year, I'm finally catching on and I love them. They are so mysterious and surpise me every day.

I am extremely rusty on the Tarot. I haven't done any in about 5 years. I have the Ellen Cannon Read Witches deck and the Rider Waite deck. So I am basically re-learning everything. I'll be checking in here to learn from all of you!

The Tarot predicted the outcome of the Mayor's race here. The question I asked was, "Will the incumbent win?" First card - Strength - symbolizing a struggle, in this case, an election. The second - the two of Wands, symbolizing the choice. The third was the three of Pentacles reversed, symbolizing the weakness of the incumbent. The fourth card was the ten of Pentacles reversed, symbolizing a loss. I felt I had my answer and there was no need to draw another card. The incumbent would lose, and he did. And I voted for him!

Hi Everyone! I`m new here. Its fascinating the way people use the tool, of Tarot. After reading 38 years from the "Old Books" I am constantly surprised how each author interprets their own way as THEE way. But as a TOOL, Tarot is unique in the hands of each artist...the same way a painter or sculptor works with a brush or chisel. I have found all that really matters is ACCURACY....and that Channeling Tarot rather then memorizing meanings like flash cards, ...allows Tarot to develop natural Intuition. But that's my opinion and like religion, there are a multitude of ways to pray and focus through Tarot. They are exceptionally powerful once they curl to your hand shape, soak in your scent and become worn looking.

Your guide may have been suggesting a "cure" card. You can use cards that are suggested to you or that you pull to find ways to fix or enhance the part of the spread that is troubling or indicates an area that needs a lot of support in some way. You can do very powerful self-transformational magick using the cards in this way. Putting them on your altar and meditating on them, putting them under your pillow or at the side of your bed and asking for dreams, or spellwork are all great ways to use cure cards.

There is no book of moral rules and regulations concerning the tarot or any other oracle.

As long as you shuffle your deck thoroughly, and I mean very thoroughly, the cards you deal will be selected by the deepest depths of your life, a layer of your life much deeper and much wiser than your mere unconscious. Your cards will be selected by an area in your life that has infinite more wisdom than your spirit guides. And that is true of any other oracle we elect to use too.

Can anyone tell me what are the ethics of adding a card that did not turn up in a tarot spread which my guides told me should have definitely been there?
