yeh good point wanderer, i have found it defiantly differs from artist to artist but then again you are paying for quality, sometimes, but you have a look around, get a feel for a place and an artist.

money should not be the first thing on your mind when it comes to a tattoo. It often is the first thing you think of but for something that is going to be on ur body for a pretty long time you wanna find the best person for the job, get a quote and save up ur cash.

my old artist was a bit of a jerk so overcharged me and a friend the last time we both went to see him, it sucks but it happens. so just be aware that the artist can be a little temperamental when it comes to the money part!

Cost of ink varies alot. As does quality of artist. Shopping around is the best path, imho.

Arcane- That really depends on who is working on you. Since it's a friend of mine he gave me a great deal on it (mostly because he expects me to give him a tattoo at some point, in return). I only paid $300 to get it done. If you don't know someone who can tattoo, it can be very pricey. On average, with a piece like mine, you are looking at about $900+. The bigger you go, the more it will be. Plus you can add the cost of time/supplies used. If you are walking into a shop where you don't know the artist.

Mine was rather 'simplistic', only using one color (more color=higher cost, more detail=higher cost)so that also gets you a vague idea of what you are looking at cost wise. Although I have plans on adding to this in the future (background and such) so it'll be another $300 when that comes around.
