TEACHERS, MENTORS, GUIDES AND GUARDIANS - FINDING THAT PERFECT FIT

Welcome! I've brought the Discussion on finding a Teacher, Mentor, Guardian or Guide over to this Group. I hope that anyone searching for assistance in finding a Path will look it over and see all the wonderful people who have offered their help, their experiences, their time and their own stories.

Members have chosen to list themselves as:
TEACHERS - offering one on one, guided instruction in the Path they walk, according to the way they were guided. They each have their own method of teaching, so ask questions and pay attention! You will have a great opportunity to sit at the feet of some very wise members of the Pagan Community, and to decide if this person's style, voice, ethics, Deities, and Path is for you. You are not obligated to stay with any teacher, but common courtesy dictates that if you leave that teacher, you notify him/her, and give a heads-up. The same goes for teachers. Once you have taken on a student, please do not disappear into the ether without letting the student know. Being suddenly stranded is not
a particularly good feeling, on either end.

MENTORS - A mentor is an experienced and trusted advisor; a counselor, a consultant, and a confidant. If you have a teacher already, but have questions or do not need the traditional one-on-one oversight that a teacher would give, then you may be looking for a mentor. You may ask a mentor about your path, or about her/his path, even if you are not studying with that person. They are there for you to check out facts, after you've done the research, to offer suggestions, and advice, but not the intense study that you might have with a teacher.
Again, please notify your mentor if you choose to leave Pagan Space or no longer wish to study. And if mentoring becomes too involved, mentors are free to remove themselves from the listings as well.

GUIDES/GUARDIANS - These are people to whom a new practitioner or anyone not feeling particularly comfortable with an issue, can also go to for advice.
They are not involved in the teaching process, but will check up on you or check in with you, should you request it. Please do not expect Guardians or Guides to do your research for you; they are there for questions regarding comfort with issues and feelings of insecurity or inappropriateness, as well as support and encouragement.

OTHER - for websites, and offers of help that do not fall into the above categories.

This is a self-administered group. I've put it together and am bringing over the direct replies to my call for help. The words are not my opinions or edits of anything said. These people responded and seekers should take what they say at face value. I'll be around as a Guardian of this site, and please feel free to write to me at profile/Selenelucina with questions, but the search is yours!

Once again, I ask that you only use the comment boxes below to list yourself as a teacher, mentor, guide or guardian. Seekers - new practitioners - students - it is up to you to search the categories. The generous members who have listed themselves to help you are not required to come back to the group on any timely basis, if at all, to see who is looking for help. Please do not list your history and ask for help. The search is yours. Perhaps in the future we will be able to add another section where seekers can post, but for now, once again, this is a SELF HELP GROUP. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but those who were kind enough to agree to be listed cannot be responsible for finding you, and we will not accept any further postings asking for matches to be made at this time. If you have a problem with this, please contact me, Selene, and I'll say it again, personally. We are so grateful to those who chose to be listed under the category in which they could offer help. We do not expect them to check in, once they are listed.

Comment by Selene on September 10, 2008 at 7:11pm: Okay, here's some good news! While I'm away, and hopefully afterward too, RaevynKiss is going to be a co-administrator. She'll help Isenhelm and be here to list anyone who wants to volunteer, and to direct new seekers.
I asked her at the very last minute (my bad; I forgot that I'm leaving on Friday) and she graciously accepted.
I owe her big-time!

Comment by Selene on August 10, 2008 at 1:30pm: I've added anyone who posted with new information, to the group under which they originally asked to be listed. Please check your listing and let me know if anything has changed. I'll be back and forth for a while yet, but I think I'm the only one with the control ability to make changes, no matter what I've done to try and give them to Isenhelm. So any mistake or error in listing is mine.

Please be kind to him while I am gone because I want him to be here when I get back! I have every confidence that he will do a wonderful job and I am so grateful to him for agreeing to take the controls.

Comment by Selene on July 6, 2008 at 12:45pm: Teachers, Mentor, Guides/Guardians is up and running and unless someone asks me to change a listing, this is how it will stand. My hope is that anyone wanting to learn will be able to find the right person to help, with a minimum of trouble.

If you're listed in here, please join the group. That way you can leave messages to add to your listing, delete from your listing, or to be listed, if you are not. Please - no picture gifs on this page. I'd like this to be a self-run group for the most part, and I'll be traveling this summer and won't always be here to clean up the page. If anyone is willing to be an additional group administrator, please contact me at
profile/Selenelucina in and let's talk. I'm open to suggestions for improving this reference group, but there isn't much more that I, personally, can do here.

I'll put up an announcement on the PS Home page to let everyone know where we are and how to find us.
