The Croning

The natural transition from Mother to Crone is the end of some things and the beginning of a new life of wisdom and experiences. This group is especially for discussions of the so-called "change of life" at whatever age you happen to be entering it.

Greetings and Have a Cup of Raspberry Leaf Tea!

I am starting this group because I have recently discovered that I myself am entering "the change"--blood tests have revealed that I am in perimenopause, or the transition state from fertility to menopause. I'm only 37, but I am assured that women even younger than me have already begun the transition. Well, it is what it is, and what can I do but embrace this next stage in my life--which is the goal of this group. Through discussions and support, we can all help each other embrace this next stage, the Crone stage, as an enriching time.

I am so glad to have found this group. I'm 52 and have been in peri-menopause for 8 years!! My menses is getting less regular (used to be able to set the atomic clock to it - it was so regular!). Hot flashes, mentalpause (short term memory sometimes gets glitches), trouble sleeping and "the crazies" (temporary insanity) are all things I've been learning to cope with and "treat" (lots of good herbs, better diet and ....ugh....exercise!) I am so grateful for my life and all its changes because it has afforded me the most wonderful opportunities for growth.

I am 53... still bleeding every 28 days but have been experiencing the symptoms well over 13 years...between peri-menopause and fibro it can sometimes be a challenge but i have learned to look after myself. I am really enjoying this time of my life and feel sexy as hell even with my Buddha belly. I learned long ago it was all about choice... the body changes happen; the aches & pain happen; but it how you choose to go forth each day. I try to treat each day as a gift and get up and play with a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart!!!

MoonChild I had the same thing happen to me. I started menopause in my middle 30's too. By 39 I was a Crone. I can count rhe number of hot flashs on one hand. The doctors were convinced my body was out of wack, and tryed everything to start my cycles again.
For a few months I put up with all types of meds to try to undo what Mother Nature had done. Back then being in the change wasn't as open a subject as it is now. All the baby boomers have brought the subject out into the open and some doctors have learned to address it. Don't let any doctor tell you that you are to young for it or experment on you. Blessings

I love being a Crone! But the aches and pains that go along with it are not fun! I love the Grandmother part! My twin grandsons are a joy! Being an old soul I feel I am growing into myself... Blessings Diana

I avoided children too after a long time i am able to cope with being near them after alot of help from boy friend who is such a star. I have had a moustache since i was 11 (PCOS I think) its got worse with aging, horrible but then I am used to having to remove hair.:)

I too am barren and too old now to worry about it. It is alien to me also, but then again once I found out that I would never have a child, I avoided them(children) like the plague so I didn't have to think of it.
I am fortunate as I haven't had hot flashes or night sweats, just a hairy chin and moustache.

I just went from girl and going into crone, I missed out the motherhood as I am barren so never knew what the fertile bit of life was like, its totally alien to me, I guess I have never felt fully woman, more genderless I suppose. I have hot flushes and dodgy periods, i welcome the menopause with open arms, no more smelly blood and pain, The hot flushes and night sweats are annoying. I am 42 now.

MM my siater crones. Mother Nature made me a Crone the year I turned 40 - it does happen. Guess I've always been an old soul a Crone at heart. I was blessed with only a few hot flashes in the very begining. This year I turned 59 and live by the motto --- I'm still HOT but now adays it come in Flashes! Blessing Treddle

Don't worry, I'm 52 and with that next step, is the wisdom you've gained thru the years. The only other sad part is the age aches and pains!
