Yes I worry about today's youth too. I'm a teacher and I have seen the drastic changed in our youth over the years. I agree that part of the problem is the lack of "rites of passage" and specific roles for our youth. Our kids are not usually trained my an elder to follow in their footsteps, or to learn a trade. Instead, often our youth follow in the shadow of someone who also didn't have a good role mode. That's what I see every day. I also worry about the animals and the earth in general. I worry about the callous way in which many people disregard animals, including many young people today. Once again, they are following the wrong people. I am a warrior for the kids who are trying to do the right thing, the kids who don't have a chance, and for animal protection.

As a nurse, I am known as a patient advocate...even when that advocacy will cost me my job (as it has). I try to lead by example, and also to encourage my CNAs to work to their potential.
In my private life, I seek out opportunities to render aid, such as providing volunteer first aid coverage at SCA and other events. I teach my daughter to help others, and step up when I see another person needing anything...from a few cents in the grocery line to a jump or help moving.
Service to others is the highest virtue.
