New to group and looking forward to learning some new things. I don't know much about gardening, never had a chance to make one, but I love the idea of growing my own fruits, veggies and herbs. ^_^

I have been a sustainable frmsteader all my life. There are still a million things I would life to learn more about from those who hae gained successful experienceces. We just moved to an are of deep black soil that seems to be clay. It is Karst topography. I wonder how much lime to add to break loose the minerals for my developing gardens next season. It is at least 12" down to the limestone. I plan to add some sand and hopefully the compost will be ready by next spring? Active interaction with others in this type topography would be welcomed. boydenelson@live.com boyd nelson on face book . I am new to this space, so may not find message only here till I learn how ....... I have a personal desire to find value and worth in what is left of life in this life period. If interested in a proto-typing endevor of intentional community coop; talk with me.

Hi Everyone! I'm new, and I'm learning California desert gardens. This is my first year here, I'm used to OC/LA where everything grows.

hmmm don't know.. I have usually given up after all of this heat....and I don't think I know anyone who does....and since we can be wearing shorts at christmas or seeing snow...not sure how cold weather crops work here...I just usually have things in pots that I bring in if it happens to get cold enough..

This is the day I feel like I'm going to have....lol

W O R D S

A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women
use a day...30,000 to a man's 15,000.

The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to
repeat everything to men"

The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"

CREATION

A man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can
be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time?"

"The wife responded, "Allow me to explain.
God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me;
God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!"

re: drying veggies, the car fumes prob aren't great...it made me think of when they do testing on a persons hair to see the chemicals they have been exposed to....they always talk about the enviro stuff like carbon monoxide....and if the car fumes are a good way to commit suicide...I prob wouldnt want to put them in my salad....gosh that was morbid.....well it is 6am on a Saturday morning ...maybe I will be more cheery after some breakfast...lol

Re: the potato, I first thought of a horse looking back, but a hippo is better.
Re: drying veggies, I learned at the living history museum where I work that settlers used to dry green beans that way too, but they reconstituted them with water to eat them. I dry herbs in my garage, but i always wonder whether the fumes from the car is bad for them. What do you think?
