Greetings...I am an Elm Tree...according to Druid Horoscope.  The wood of the Elm tree is dense and strong with strong resistance to splitting, which may be why it is symbolic of strong will. It grows rapidly, and it becomes big, slender, and beautiful.  The Elm Tree can be very reserved, even though it attracts people  easily. Known for their simple, casual style, Elm Tree people are often quite sentimental and cannot bear to part with anything that holds a memory.

Easy going by nature, those of the Elm clan are very laid-back and they dont like complications in life. They are calm and even tempered, and perhaps their only potentially negative trait is that they are sluggish. Disarmingly generous, Elm Trees are open and straight forward. Noble of Nature. Responsible.......what tree are You

Don't be sad, it was their time for harvest... sad but inevitable... they were planted after the seond world war for timber.

A lot of people near the forest moaned about the trees being felled. But the pine trees had been planted for a purpose and were ripe to be harvested.

Iin fact they were already beginning to fall over as they were so shallow rooted, and were dangerous if you walked there when it was windy or very wet.

After the pines were cut down, the forestry men planted a range of broadleaved deciduous trees where the pines had once stood in order to regenerate woodland there, and they left some smaller pine trees as protection in the area too.

So one day, in many years to come, there should be a wood growing there once more.

It might look a mess after the pine trees have been cut out, and this was a few years ago, but now there are young trees growing again and the area is full of life once more.

I agree 'Starwish' and it's a shame when trees do have to be cut down but if there is a good reason, then it should be done with respect and honour too.

Wassailing.... In some areas of UK around January, people sing and recite incantations to the trees in orchards, and drink a kind of mulled cider called 'Wassail', as well as putting slices of toast that have been dipped into the drink in the branches of the largest apple tree, in order to ensure a good harvest. Do other parts of the world have any similar kind of custom? blessings to all D x

I have always respected trees and know that they are filled with golden light that travels straight up towards the Universe;  I am always saddened when some thoughtless human cuts them down without due cause.    should not pass judgement on the human race but and there is always  a but, such is life and I am not perfect.
