I haven't been completely "out" of the broom closet for very long...I hid it from everyone except my best friend who is also a witch. A few weeks ago, I was wearing a pentacle necklace, and I felt extremly hurt and insulted when my boyfriend called me a satanist, and asked me to remove it. He asked me a few times repeatedly, and I vehemently refused, telling him that I was NOT a satanist, and that I was done hiding who I really was, and that I was not changing that for anyone, including him. It felt rather liberating to say "NO", to something I would have gave in to a year ago. I'm completely open about who I am, and what my beliefs are now, and I am proud of who I am. Even my employer is aware of my path, and is completely unjudgemental about it. It's a great feeling to be accepted! :)

Religion loves to color people in hateful and evil ways, but then, it was religion that invented "Satan" to begin with, since the Hebrew language in the bible does not include any such "being" - the word is actually HaSatan which means the (Ha) adversary (satan), and in only one case does it refer to a being in a singular sense, but it has never been understood in the Jewish tradition to be about an evil being (which of course long predates the Christian). When I hear people throw that crap out I tell them they need to first learn something about their own (very pagan) religion and where it came from and what it means.
