Aiya to all - I am Calantirniel of the Elven Path, from Western MT, and I think that Unity of Beliefs 2009 sounds like an amazing idea (and I love the title, all roads lead to the Source hehehe)! :-)
I like the idea of the gathering being in the SW US because there really aren't many large Pagan Gatherings, Events or Festivals in this region, compared to other areas of the country. I have heard that the Earth energies in Sedona AZ are utterly life-changing!
I have also noticed the timing was a wise choice, since most large (National level) Pagan Gatherings do not occur near the Spring Equinox.
However, I wish to ask others here, particularly the co-founders (is that the right word?) how this will differ from other events like Starwood in NY, PantheaCon in NorCal, Pagan Spirit Gathering in OH, Pagan Unity Festival in TN, amongst others. Many of these events are not only for bringing together the many Pagan or Earth-based spiritual paths together, but have scheduled events such as rituals to experience, as well as workshops ranging from learning astral travel to healing techniques to crafting ritual tools to learning songs, spells, etcetera - and even things like Pagan parenting and how to integrate your beliefs in the workplace. Will there be this type of programming, or will it have more openings for social interaction (instead of often feeling like you are in class)?
Also, would the "Unity of Beliefs" expand to being open, even encouraging to other paths, such as Christianity? I hope to really understand the intentions of everyone here, and to understand any intended similarities and differences from other events that are seemingly along these lines. Thanks for filling me in! :-)
