I am working on a painting this Winter of Loki. It is part of my 'Erotic God' series that includes Odin and Herne and I attached pics on both paintings.
It is my erotic take on him as the others and but I also want to be true to the mythology. I have for the most part, him penciled out with long reddish kinked hair and Fox and Magpie motifs.
I am curious to hear other thoughts, criticisms, and the like and any info anyone would like to share with me about him.
Sorry they made you uncomfortable..... that is a first though that I have heard about them. :)
I look at it this way, Odin was young at one time as a mortal but more so, being a God, he would want to be viral and hawt.... but that is in perspective of course.
yes, the gods have many faces indeed. you are a woman of courage, never the less. The pants detail shows me you are capable of much more than you let us show.
the definitions of viral and hawt are as many as there are people, and when I thought of sexy, of discreet virility and maturity I thought of this picture. Your Odin is truly missing the Authority of Allfather. His Wisdom and his authority are what makes him "sexy". May I humbly suggest to you to have a few peeks into the works of Tom of Finland for Authority, if you did not already. He is very physical and leaves not much to imagination, but there is a certain mystery and authority to his characters. It's definitely worth a peep.
Very nice work and obviously caters to his male viewers.
My style is my style and I like the approach I have taken and so does my audience so it's all good in my book. ;) Besides when you have the Gods knocking at your proverbial door to paint them... well then I believe I am on the right path with this.... ;D
okay...haha, you know that your style caters to male viewers as well :D. There is no wrong path, yet you know....some people regard certain attributes as sufficient to recognize them as their gods, while others have more a meta view. Think of it like this. Not everyone would be pleased to see a The White Buffalo Goddess with bleached hair and spread legs, no matter how tasteful. It surely helps to know that the artist respects the deity.
Well, of course hun... There are certain ones that will not be done in such a way and I have no vision for either. White Buffalo Calf woman is not in that arena at all and I have done my own versions of her in the past that were very Spiritual.... My web site is windwolf.com or you can click on me and my cohorts banner on the main page of Paganspace, wolfsisters.com. There you are welcome to see the vast array of art I have done over the years in all walks of visionary and shamanic images. I am sorry this has been a big concern for you but really, you do not need to view it if you do not like it. I posted here looking for any info on Loki, not a lecture on my morals of painting erotic art.
lol Morals, that's the best comment I heard so far on Pagan Space Out! You made my day. i have seen your stuff and I think everything else is more respectful than this here MOTLEY CRUE Odin.
