Who do that Voodoo like we do?

Voodoo has long been a "taboo" religion and some have even called a cult. I am here to say and prove that this is simply not the case. I do not kill chickens and drink their blood, we honor our ancestors, treat the Lwas as our friends, do magic, go to Mass and Pray to God. We work side by side with the Orisha and Lwas.

hey Eaglewoman careful with the orishas, you should have a godparent to work with them, Marje is right it can get messy and once you disrespect ochun there's no way of "contenting" her again and careful with what you read, my partner is a santero and he sais there are secrets we (not initianted) are not supposed to know untill they are tought to us in rituals, Things can go wrong in your life if you attempt to learn those secrets, I have a book, about rituals and even that is public domain (A BOOK) he told me not to read it. Many Blessings and I hope you get a chance to work with orichas, BTW the dead come before the saint, not all santeros will teach you this to get hands on your money, you should get initiated in Palo, Dominican Voodoo (Misterio) Seance, or something else before working with santeria if you haven't montao a dead, you shouldn't montar an oricha, Blessings

Hi Marje,
And thank you for replying. I feel completely drawn to Yemaya AND to the Wiccan/Witchcraft traditions which I have studied and been initiated into. It isn't that I've stumbled into something and thought," Oh, this seems interesting!" It's more that these energies or Goddesses or what have you, are coming to me and I feel compelled to discover more and add them into my life.
As far as the Almighty, I assure you, I do believe. As a Witch & Wiccan, how can I not? *smiles* I understand about disrespecting the Orishas and about including both male and females energies. But, why do you say that I wouldn't be worshipping the same female entities? I know their cultural beginnings are very different but in essence, aren't all Goddesses and/or Gods the same universal/cosmic energy with diffferent names/aspects depending on their worshippers? It all comes from The Divine, after all. No? However, rest assured, I do not jump into such paths on whim and I definitely take any callings or study with extreme respect and fore thought.
And I have taken your advice, I am continuing to read up on the Yoruba. As far as finding someone to teach me, well, I have not been so lucky as of yet. *smiles*

Thank you once again. I truly appreciate your time.

Eaglewoman; you don't want to engage with the orisha unless you're properly trained. They can get nasty if you disrespect them in some way, and you probably won't even know that you are disrespecting them.

Can I ask WHY you feel drawn to the orishas, and why you would want to mix them with your wiccan belief? Why not just stick to one or the other?
And no, you wouldn't be worshiping the same female entities. Plus, you would have to include the male orishas as well.
Also, you would have to believe in the almighty creator-God.

My advice; read up on yoruba beliefs, and find someone who's initiated. You would need to be initiated in order to work with the orisha properly.

I've posted this discussion in another group but I seek your input here as well.

Interweaving Wicca with Orisha worship, can it be done & leaving a group?
I recently joined a site that is dedicated to Orisha worship in all its forms. I'm really seeking detail information on worshipping and honoring my Mother Yemaya and I thought this group would help. However, I don't want to let go of my Wiccan practices. I sincerely want to know if I can meld the two practices together in a cohesive, sensible, respectful way. I posted this question to this other site. Quite frankly, it seems to me that the participants in this other site do not like the idea. Their explanations do not make sense to me. Is it wrong? Why is it wrong? Aren't I merely worshipping the same female essence in yet another form? I'm thinking of dropping that site however, I feel compelled to stay and meet some of it members to truly give them a chance to make a deeper impression upon me. I've only been a member for about a week. Am I being rash?
What do you think?

Merry Meet everyone!
The group sounds interesting. Thank you for creating it.
I'm Eaglewoman (everyone calls me Delicia). I'm a Wiccan Witch and have an interest in Santeria but I would love to learn about Voodoo as well.
I'm enjoying reading your group discussions. Are there any group chats?
I'm really interested in learning more about my Mother Yemaya. I have never been initiated into Santeria or anything like that but I have a VERY strong connection to Her. I would also love to learn more detail on ritual, history and the whys and wherefores of both Santeria and Voodoo.

Thank you again!
Blessed be
