Papa Legba
Hello everyone!
I have been working with Papa Legba based on my own research about him from his different aspects for the last three weeks. I understand that for me to contact the Lwa, I must please him first. I feel like something is missing.
I wanted to get some idea on how Voodoo honors Papa Legba. It's hard for me to google information that I feel will suffice with proper way to honor him, symbols, his taboos, and ritual placement or 'activation'. Since Voodoo is more of a oral tradition and not much is written down, not a lot comes up on web searches.
Please forgive my ignorance on the subject; I am of Wiccan and Native American training.

I love Papa Legba, I keep his Alter in my bedroom next to my door and he makes me feel safe. I give him water from a mountain spring and he prefers Dark Rum over the light, He loves his coffee and I buy candy canes when available seasonally, otherwise hard peppermint candy or candy I have on hand. I am grateful for the other food suggestions posted here, thank you all very much. I have been into Witchcraft for sometime now, but have developed a strong interest in learning about Vodou! I need to get him a pipe, but have been giving him cigars, sometimes a cigarette lol, since I smoke I always have them on hand. I buy gifts for him, when I see things he might like.
I had a reading done by a friend who is a Mambo Priestess a while back, because I have been very sick and she told me Papa was watching over me, and wanted me to ask him for his help, that is when I started working with him, I feel nothing but love from him.

Sister Lady D...I am on a quest to find him a pipe as well...lol I have been seeing them in the strangest places. I have found them in both Rite Aid and Walgreen's pharmacies. I will be getting him one soon. I just never thought pharmacies would carry such things...lol Good luck with your search!!!
