Feel free to laugh, but I have a question, are there really love spells in vodou? or is it hokey?

there isnt anything wrong by asking your ancestor to help you i matter about love cause the will tholrw u a hint as to wht to do in that matter. you are doing the right thing perhaps they were the one guiding you so they can help you

Of course we do love spells!! Nothing to worry about... hell, almost all houngans and mambos, the majority of our clients come to us for matters of the heart. We're good at it. ;)

Your ancestors are the perfect place to begin, they have your best interests at heart, and they want you to be happy. Nothing wrong with asking them for help, especially if there's any interest in one day giving them descendants; you gotta have someone to have kids with if you want them, and so your ancestors definitely know (well, if you're straight) that in order for you to continue their bloodline, you're gonna have to have a little or a lot of sex.

I hope so. My sex drive went way up lately. Rumor has it that women hit their peak in thier thirties. I didn't used to believe that but now I do...:) I only know a Santera right now but I think I might go consult her. I know it's not the same, but that's what's good for right now, because she's friendly and nice. I've got to check out amber and jet. I am still learning so much. Thanks and hope it was funny :)! I know very little about Vodou so I can't answer specifically from that angle. But I do know that Hoodoo magic has many works that can be used to effect both love and sex. I'll dig some links up and send your way.

Some recipes to stir things up a bit lol!

Come to Me Oil
Recipes vary from person to person. They are generally floral in tone and usually red in color.

rose
jasmine
gardenia
lemon oil

(from "The Magickal Formulary" by Herman Slater © 1999 Herman Slater)
To the above formula, add rose petals for enhancing love, and patchouli leaves for enhancing passion.

Attraction Love Oil

A hoodoo Attraction oil for drawing love.
Blend equal parts

*Rose scent, which can be one or more of these:
*Essential Oil of Roses (Rose Otto)
*Essential Oil of Rose Geranium
*Rose Fragrance (synthetic)
Lavender oil
Vanilla oil
Sandalwood oil

Touch to pulse points when in the presence of the one you want to attract.

This following two blends are from "The Voodoo Hoodoo Spellbook"
Erzulie Freda Oil was recommended to me, to make for my daughter, when she was in need of a charm for seduction!

Erzulie Freda Floral Perfume Oil

Use this oil to increase your personal magnetism, and to draw love and prosperity to you.

* 3/4 cup jojoba oil
* 1/2 teaspoon essential oil of rose
* 1/2 teaspoon essential oil of lavender
* 1 teaspoon essential oil of geranium
* 1/4 teaspoon essential oil of ylang-ylang

Mix together and store in a tightly sealed bottle, in a dark place. Wear as a perfume or anoint charms.

Hoodoo Love Drawing Oil

Patchouli
Dried orange rind
Oil of jasmine
Rose petals

Blend in carrier oil such as almond, olive, or grapeseed. Add rose petals for enhancing love, and patchouli leaves for enhancing passion.

Another Idea:

Magickal Bath to Promote and Foster Love

Make a bath with Rose Blossom Cologne, Orange Blossom Cologne, and a cup of yarrow tea.

I'll have to try at least some of what you put here. I do have some stuff for making oils and can order the rest. It just might take a little time. It's not going well right now, but i have been promised some good lovin and am going to do a small spell here shortly when its timed right. This full moon was a real bitch as i was sick, but am planning magic right away.Thnaks to all of you for helping out. My luck isn't the greatest right now, and i have to figure out what is crossing me too. I'm not even sure, but i see it getting better if i can believe my tarot. :)

The following is a Love Spell from "The Voodoo Hoodoo Spellbook"

Attraction Love Spell

Purpose: To attract the person you love. This spell is most effective when performed during a full moon or when the moon is waxing.

Ingredients

Pink candle
Favorite perfume or essential oil
Toothpick

Directions: Take the candle and engrave a heart into it with the toothpick. Place the candle on a windowsill with the heart in the moonlight. Place the perfume or essential oil in front of the candle and say, “Oshun, bestow upon me the love that I need; let this scent attract (name) to me!”

Once the candle burns out naturally, carry the perfume with you and spray little every time you go out to meet people. To intensify the strength of the spell, repeat the chant as you spray on the perfume.

I feel that an attraction spell is fine as long as it is between a husband and wife, or long term lovers...
Spicing up your romance is a good thing lol!!!

PASSION LOVE SPELL
(I Believe this may be just what you are looking for)

Use this love spell to fan the flames of passion between you and your lover.

Equipment needed:
1. 2 candles that will last nine days of burning 27 minutes a day- one in your favorite color, one in the favourite color of the one you want to boost your passion with (if you do not know their favourite color, pick a color that will represent them to you--such as a color they wear often).
2. Patchouli oil - oils may be purchased at many shops and stores. It does not need to be Holy Oil or any specially treated oil, just patchouli scented.
3. Pure Virgin Olive Oil.
4. Rose petals of a red rose.
5. Writing paper and red ink pen.

The Steps:
1. Carve your name into the candle that represents you. Carve the name of the one you want to boost the passion with into the candle that represents them.
2. Each candle must then be “dressed” with the patchouli oil. With one finger dipped in the oil, run your finger the length of the candle in all four quadrants (up and down four times on all sides). With each run of the oil repeat this phrase: “With the power of the four elements I baptize thee ____________(the name assigned to the candle - yours, then theirs) .
3. Place the candles 9 inches apart on a table where they will not be disturbed except by you for nine days. (If necessary to take down each day, please set up appropriately every day.)
4. Place the rose petals between the two candles.
5. When working, keep the patchouli oil on the altar area as this will help magnetize and energize it.
6. Every day at the same time, preferably after sundown:
a. Light the candles.
b. Write your name on a small piece of paper and then the person’s you want to attract OVER your name, then yours again, then theirs--all the while writing over the original name. Each name should be written nine times - a total of 18 writings each over the other.
c. Move the candles one inch closer to each other reciting, “As the candles come together, so shall we. As the flame blazes, so does our love. Our passion is hotter than the flame of any candle.” Hold the candles and repeat this phrase nine times . Put the paper you wrote on in between the candles next to the rose petals.
d. Let the candles burn for 27 minutes while you concentrate on flaming the passion between you and this person. Make your visualization as graphic as you can. Then extinguish. (NEVER blow the candles out - this blows the spell away. Always extinguish either with a candle snuffer or a silver spoon.)
e. Drop three drops of pure virgin olive oil where your intended will walk in it (if possible). When putting the drops down, concentrate on your desires with this person; what you want to happen between you and them.
7. Repeat all steps for nine days. On the ninth day, proceed as above completely. Then, by this time the candles should be together and you should have a little pile of papers. Burn each paper in one candle and then the other until all the papers are burned. As each paper is burned recite, “Bring your passionate love to me________, (the person’s name)...your flame burns in my name, ashes to ashes, dust to lust.”
8. Let the candles burn down until they are gone. Sprinkle the rose petals at the person’s front door that you are working on. Concentrate on your desire.
9. When the candles are burned down and completely extinguished: Take all the materials from the spell and put them together in a safe place. Do not discard them for 90 days. At the end of 90 days, discard them discreetly, but keep them together. Burial of the materials is the preferred method of discarding.
10. Use the patchouli oil on yourself when you see the person you are trying to boost the passion with.
