I live on the eastern side of PA....Allentown, Philadelphia area? That is hard to have to give something up. I know when each one of my rabbits died, I shedded many tears. I hope you get back into the fiber world. It takes to you places that are not in this world. I am very happy to meet you also. Keep knitting...Jackie

Merry Meet Jackie,
I read your profile-- and noticed you live in PA. Thats where I used to live many moons ago-- in a small place called Tidioute... Thats where I had my Ewe named Star-- she was my baby. She became a member of my family and would walk with me to the mail box every day... Due to many difficult life changes-- I gave her away and haven't touched a spinning wheel or natural fiber since..... But after joining this group-- feels the Goddess working changes within me again... I guess-- money permitting will attempt to learn drop spinning-- and get back to the spiritual place I had left behind.Am glad to have met you dear sister..

Merry Meet Scorpio Lady, I have made my own knitting needles also. I used clay on the ends. I also made double pointed needles. They work out very well. I love them. Great idea to mention this and reminds me to go back to the basics. I do not always need to go out and purchase those fancy needles. I can make them myself.

Blessings All,
I had posted this in another craft group-- but since there are knitters here-- felt it should be put here also.
Since we are all looking for ideas-- here is one that I use and thought I'd pass it on.. I knit, and to help me save money-- I have found that buying a wooden dowl rod about 1/4 in. will give you several sets-- sand them really well and use a regular pencil sharpener for the points..Sand the points and you have made yourself several sets of knitting needles for ummm 35 cents --this is how I've made my own double pointed needles as well-- you can make a whole line of needles according to the size of the rod you use-- and then to check the sizing-- compare your dowl needle in a knitting needle gauger( I think thats what it's called) any how I love the feel of wooden needles and they make such a soft clicking sound.... I hope you can use this idea...

I used to be a member of the Natural Fibers Guild -- and altho I no longer have my wheel -- and never learned on a drop spindle -- I still have all of my patterns, and will glad share what I know..... I can help with felting -- and have a pattern for a felted hat I believe..... I am a knitter as well-- and look forward to maybe learning how to use a drop spindle.......
