So maybe this is to mundane to ask a group of outcasts, but how do people feel about fat? Now of course we are all going to start with the fact that we really don't care what somone looks like, blah, blah, blah. While for friendship I do agree that pagans are far less likely to care, what about mating purposes? I guess what I'm really trying to find out is, how we feel about the fact that 30% of US citizens are obese and it is spreading. I have a particular intrest in body image and obesity since I have weighed much more that I was suppose to most of my life. In fact I have only been with in my weight range for 4 years during my life time.

I also have an issue with the fact that for me to go from 220 lbs to 130lbs for 4 years that I had to exercise 6 days a week for 3 or 4 hours a day and eat almost 1200-1400 calories a day. Do people who are thinner find themselves working this hard to maintain their weight? I'm just curious. I don't believe the majority of them do. Don't get me wrong, I think that US citizens as a whole need to exercise more often and eat healthier food, but our society is not really set up for that. Plus with the way the economy is now it is a lot more difficult. While it is difficult; it is not impossible. How much time a week do you feel is appropriate for you to give up from the craft, family, and friends, to have an exercise regimne?

Thanks for your responses and I'm sorry if you believe this is trivial issue.

I've been 130/35lbs my whole life, now that doesn't mean I'm fit and healthly. I smoke and drink and all of that comes with a price if you do not exercise, which I am doing but not as much as I should. Will I ever be more than 145lbs probably not. I also eat very little and when I do it's health foods. I also can't eat or drink alot of things. No dairy products..........well I love cheese ssshhh lol and I do not eat red meat. Turkey, Chicken, Eggs, Fish, Salad, Nuts, Rice, Bread, Pasta, Veggies!!! Oil (never butter), Water, Coffee, Beer. Sweets for me is a bedroom action LMAO! and I'm Italian, it sucks I need to watch what I eat and in return watch my brother consume everything that comes in his way LOL!

I am curvy. I am a Plus Size girl. I am considered overwight. However I also model and am a burlesque performer I make money off the way I look. It may be easier in some aspects if I was smaller and I do wish I was thinner. However it is not a major concern for me. I am not lazy I dance 2 to 3 hours every night in heels for reheasals for my shows. The only way I was ever to get thin was to be obsessive about it. Life is too short to spend all my time concerned about my weight. If I can dance infront of a venue full of people in my panties or pose nude for artists and have people compliment me on the way I look then I am not going to let Vogue or PlayBoy or any one else tell me that I am fat. See my Journal for pictures. (as I am at work right now and can't pull them up) >:) www.hardrockitty.livejouranl.com

My husband would say "you are "healthy" - nice big tits, great ass, thick thighs, nice and "meaty" to hold on to." I know. Because that's how he describes me. He also says that "men don't like those skinny, flat-no-ass-at-all women".

Yes, I wish I was "thin" again (95 lbs in my 20's). But I know that I am what I'm supposed to be (especially since hitting menopause) - now a "thick peasant build" at 159 lbs that men like, as my husband puts it, instead of the frail "China doll" that boys like.

Women shouldn't be made to feel so insecure about their weight. Its how you look and feel. Not how someone else (outside of your partner) thinks you look (or should look) or makes you feel.
