Sri Ganesha, also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, Pillyar and a host of other names, is one of the most well known Devas in all of Hinduism. He is easily recognized due to His elephant head, and can be seen with His Vahana (animal companion) Mooshak, the rat. He is the Lord of wisdom and success, and the God who removes obstacles and places them in our path. He is a guide through the jungles of confusion and…oh yeah, He loves sweets!
Ganesha is the son of Shiva and Parvati, brother of Murugan and half-brother of Ayyappan. He is the father of Santoshi Maa, and in some traditions, has three wives: Buddhi, Riddhi and Siddhi. He is associated with Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth and Sarasvati, Goddess of the arts. Ganesha is worshiped before pujas or before doing anything important.
If you worship this lovable deity, or just want to learn more about Him, this is the group for you!
