Because of when it falls and also due to my job, I'm going to celebrate at home as well. Let me know what the Witch'es ball was like. I've never been so it sounds like fun.

I'm actually going to a witch's ball and celebrate at home doing something I haven't decided yet

The Wotan I learned about is the one from the Eddas, the sagas, and from my Grandmother and other family members. You see in Germany my family kept everything very close to the vest because of the way things were at the time. They would be amazed to see what it's like today, with the temple in Iceland and everything.

My essay on the Black Sun can be found at http://www.paganspace.net/profiles/blogs/the-black-sun-an-old-but-v...
German culture is a frequent theme on my blogs, but I don't often visit the distant past or the pagan world when I write about Germany. I usually confine my thoughts to the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, but sometimes I talk about the Reformation. I can warn you now that the Wotan that appears in Wagner's Ring Cycle is an interesting literary character, but not anyone you would want to honor on your ritual altar. He is neither very good nor very bad, but seems to be rather incompetent.

You're like a breath of fresh air. I really appreciate the fact that you acknowledge that many of us from this faith are of the Germanic heritage, who are not racist. I for one would love to remove the negative sigma placed on the symbols that like you said;"belong to all humanity." I'd like to read the rest of your revised essay.

First read the comment I made below. I made my own contribution to a "theology" of Wotan in an blog article that I entitled "Wotan and the Dionysus of Friedrich Nietzsche". In this article I comment on the essay "Wotan" that Carl Jung wrote in 1936, and provide a link to his essay online. Here is the URL of my article: http://www.sophialucifer.net/2017/02/wotan-and-dionysus-of-friedric...

Yesterday I re-posted a blog article that I wrote several months ago, revising it in accordance with the many suggestions and criticisms that PaganSpace members have made since then. The article is called "The Black Sun, an Old but Very New Symbol at the Core of the Psyche". I devote a great deal of attention in this essay to "die Schwartze Sonne" or Hyperborean Sun of the Nazi occultists, among whom were the "Wotanists". I say that the Wotanists misappropriated symbols that belonged to all of humanity to justify the Nazi Master Race ideology. I said that I wanted to "take back" these symbols.
I want to make it clear that I fully recognize the legitimacy of "Wotan Folk", for so far as I can see this group does not resemble the Wotanists of the past or present. Wotanists are still active today as a pseudospiritual complement to the Aryan supremacy movement. Groups like Wotan Folk are needed as an alternative to the contemporary Wotanists---in fact, more than a PaganSpace group is needed. We need a national "Wotan Folk" movement. It is true that we have Asatru, but as long as Asatru uses only the name "Odin" and not "Wotan", many people who have a Germanic as opposed to a Scandinavian cultural heritage will be drawn to the Wotanists. What makes the Wotanists all the more dangerous is that their racist, neo-Nazi ideology is not always apparent at first sight.
