if i can hate you
but for no reason other than the things my eyes can see
i must accept with understanding
when you say, you too, hate me
If I can blame you for all the ingorances
that those before you have done
i must stand to admit the faults
of those who claim me as their son
but if you take the time to know me
from my feet below to my head above
maybe i can show you the truth within me
and teach our hateful hearts to love
until you've walked my path to see
where i have been, what i have done,
how i must live, what i go through
from rising sun to rising sun
we will never grow beyond
our empty place of misunderstanding
and we'll never reach the point
where life becomes a peaceful blessing
