About Me:
I am an eclectic who finds it nearly impossible to write a statement that will go under a heading "About Me." I am introspective, often silly, prone to make obscure references, and also prone to set things in the kitchen on fire (unintentionally). I dream constantly, and am never bored - with much credit going to my two ridiculous young cats.

Oh, so many... May I have all of them? Please?

Other Beliefs/Practices
I am drawn to informal and folk traditions, and find that magical practices are often at their best when improvised and instinctive.

I delight in the belief that truth and experience are both stranger and more wonderful than fiction, although fiction allows us to both express and create that truth.

If forced to give them a name, my beliefs could perhaps be described as "ecumenical pantheism." (Those terms sound so clinical!) I don't, as a rule, personify the Divine, but I embrace the human tendency to relate to the Divine in the form of god(s) and goddess(es).

I believe that science and spirituality are not mutually exclusive, but rather complement each other, each one built on curiosity and devotion.
Singing (when I'm alone), collecting from nature and from the past, making concoctions of various kinds, devouring, creating and coveting books, studying languages, reveling in good food, and exploring (in all senses).
How did you find PaganSpace?
I'd like to thank all those wonderful podcast hosts who make a daily commute bearable.

Magic in the Ditches

I’ll admit it — I love most of the plants that reasonable people consider weeds.  I especially love the fluffy floaty kinds that generate horrendous allergies in most of my friends.  I can’t help it!  I root for the underdog.  Read the full entry at WordPress...

Losing Our Senses

Posted on August 27, 2011 at 12:46am 0 Comments

I think most of us, at one time or another, have felt the sensation of losing our senses.  And although that phrase tends to evoke images of madness (something about which I have some tangled and complex feelings), recently I was reminded that I have, at distinct moments in my past, literally lost my senses, one at a time.  Read the full post...

Celebrating a Summer of Fire

Posted on August 15, 2011 at 12:48am 0 Comments

What a beautiful weekend!  Yesterday there were so many summer events on the docket that it was hard to know what to do with oneself.  I felt a little useless in the morning, still full after our sushi overdose date Friday night.  After the boy went to work at the studio, my friend Bex and I went out for a stroll about town and visited the closest block party.  The crowd was a bit overwhelming, but the bands were good, and we indulged in some brightly colored snow cones that dyed our tongues…

Lakefront Visit and some Campy Tips

Posted on August 12, 2011 at 2:16am 0 Comments

I’ve recently returned from my annual pilgrimage north, and I have to say the transition back into city life is going fairly well, considering what a spectacular week I had to leave behind.  There were a number of beautiful and memorable moments: a gigantic setting crescent moon sliding down the most vivid crimson sunset sky just minutes behind the sun, glorious weather and captivating clouds, remarkably not-frigid lake water ideal for sauna-ing, the spirits of the bluff shooing us away with…
