Northern gods vs Middle Eastern gods

I've been thinking since our May Pole celebration of the contrasts between gods of the North and gods of the Middle East. I had to explain to a guest the difference between a "harrow" and an "altar." There is a different presumption in the background. In the Northern Way, our ancestors offered an animal on a harrow to the community to make sure everyone was getting enough to eat to be healthy.  The idea was that we all need to eat and share the food with the kindred community to be healthy…See More

I'm an Odinist. Some may say that's "Pagan," or "Heathen" so why not choose those? But those are defined by many as simply eclectic "non-Christian" beliefs, which is too broad and inclusive to distinctly identify myself, let alone including others which have their own distinct noble paths.
How did you find PaganSpace?

You seem to have hit the nail on the head, brother.

Balance isn't something that's ever easy to obtain, and in one way or another, balance shifts.

What's driven me towards it all, is that wicca is actually a branch off from our ancestors. It is our ancestors rituals, and practices most wiccan's tend to follow in regards to past beliefs and establishments.

The very practices that drove Christianity to see our ancestors slaughtered by the sword. All across Europe with exception to the Latin territories (prior to Rome expanding) our God's were followed by many Gauls, Britanians, etc. just under different names. (Wotan and Odin for example, same being, just a different name) I agree with you regarding Aesir and Vanir. And I whole heartedly agree.

I love to discuss Nordic Paganism, because quite frankly, overall, there really aren't many of us compared to Hellinic and Egyptians.

Birthday Reflections
Your birthday's a time for careful reflection
About your life, and its future direction.
You see where you've been when you look at the past;
Most of it's great; you had quite a blast!
You wonder what's coming, what life has in store;
Will it be just the same? Will there be a new door?
Remember this, as you blow out the last candle:
Life holds no challenge that you cannot handle.
