Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
Age
33
Astrological Sign
Aries, though believe more in Chinese sign - Fire Dragon.
About Me:
Originally started out on my journey with the following - There is no god, but something big out there. Closer to home our creator is the Earth, Mother Nature (no other name required). We are born from the earth and should be returned there after death. All are equal but NOT exact copies of each other. Conflict comes from mistaking the two. Everything has a soul, both animate and inanimate objects and after death that soul lives on as a spirit/ghost until its time of rebirth.

Now, as I grow with my new understandings, I know I'm a Pagan that dabbles in my own versions of Kitchen Witch/ Green Witch. I'd like to get to know more people with similar backgrounds though am currently happy as a Solitary so not looking for a coven so to speak. I am happy to make friends with those of all faiths as long as friendship and understanding is all that is sought.

I use PaganSpace as a way to interact with others as we all move along our own paths within the Pagan faith. From what I share, people can take what fits with them and leave what doesn't. I'm not here to teach or preach, but to learn and test my own beliefs by sharing them.

The "boring" side of me is I'm really known as Janis (in the Broom Closet mostly) though my family know and get THAT smile which is to show they "understand" and will "humour" me. Love it!

I'm an IT Help Desk Chickie working part time for a worthwhile orgainisation (who I don't discuss online). Within a couple of months I will be starting maternity leave for my third child (I'm told its a boy) due in early July 2009. I already have two daughters, one born May 2007, one born in January 2005.

I love being at home as a house frau, but can miss "work" and need the $$. Still, being a House Frau is one of my dreams, so sorry to all the women's lib who fought for me, but I happen to ENJOY being barefoot in the kitchen. Pregnant or otherwise! ;)

And if I come across as a "fluffy bunny", its because that shows up more in written text than sarcasm and irony. My two favourite forms of the English language. Trust me, I'm not born in the house of a Fire Dragon for nothing.
Favorite Books
I like authors more than just the book. Some, but not all, authors I like are Ellis Peters, Bernard Knight, Paul Doherty, Margaret Frazer, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, J. R. R. Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Elizabeth Peters (real name Barbara Mertz, also writes as Barbara Michaels) and Terry Pratchett.... I love his Discworld series as his humour is a lot like my own.

Recently discovered the Kym Harrison series about witch Rachel Morgan. As well as Katie McAllister (A hard days knight/ Wyvern stories) and Mary Janice Davidson (Undead and Unwed). They're different enough to be enjoyable and love the sarcasm. :)
Beliefs / Practices
Spiritual but not Religious, Pagan, Witch
Other Beliefs/Practices
You could call me a none practicing Pagan. As in, I am a Pagan, I am an environmentalist and I am a pacifist.... But I'm still finding my Pagan feet so don't celebrate all the Solstices or Equinoxes. I like to learn and find my own way of doing things. My Kitchen is my focal point and my home my domain and place of protection for my family.

I don't prayer to a particular goddess or god. Mother Nature is who I give thanks to and respect the most. I believe in spirits, ghosts and the wee folk.... but not in the Candy floss coated way they are generally represented. To me, its all about belief and repect. As in, I believe in what I do, and I respect that others believe in their own thing. We may not agree with each others beliefs, but as long as we respect them, things will work out somehow. :)
Hobbies
Cooking, baking, reading, writing (both letters and just writing). I love to garden, though think of myself as a Green/black thumb at times as some things live, some don't. Thankfully, I'm becomming more of a Green thumb every day! I occasionally draw and also enjoy a lot of craft things like cross stitch, decoupage, etc. I basically like to create things from "scratch", from the beginning and this means a lot to me as I do not like the pre-made society a lot of us now live in.
Heroes
Those who actually try to make a difference for the good of all, not just for themselves or to get themselves famous.

The under paid and over worked who make society stick together.

Plus those who do all the dirty, digusting, drudge work that needs to be done for our society to survive, but hardly anyone wants to do.

To all of you, I thank you.
Likes
People who are true to themselves as well as to others. Nature and helping keep it alive. Freedom of thought and action without the selfishness that allows it to harm others.

I like to meet people and I love to learn.

My favourite like - my current stage of mother and all the time I get to spend with my girls, both the good, the bad and the ugly (they are 2 and 4 yrs old after all). :)
Dislikes
Selfish people who are only looking for their own pleasure and comfort and don't care how it impacts those around them. Anti-social people who must hide behind and within technology (see the irony /humour people as I'm ON A COMPUTER ;P)

Actually, I try not to dwell on dislikes as it makes me angry and that's a waste of time. I'm not a fluffy bunny, I just don't see a point in making myself angry when that energy isn't needed. :)
How did you find PaganSpace?
The same way I've discovered a LOT about being a Witch and from someone who may not even realise the impact she's had...

I followed a link supplied by Solstice Moonwitch.

Its a boy!!! Introducing Robert John - born June 29th, 2009.

I thought I'd added this blog post last week, but obviously I didn't click on it to be published the required 14 times my computer requires me to do before it does it. ;)

Yes, had my baby back in June, cute little 9 pound baby boy, who looked like a Bobby when I first cuddled him so we named him Robert John.... and I THEN found out that was my great grand daddy's name so go figure.

Life with 3 under 5 is as hectic as you can imagine. What with extended day pre-school for the eldest, Monday pla… Continue

Why I seem to be "ignoring" freind requests... I'm NOT! :)

Hi everyone who wants to read this.

Just a little heads up to all those wonderful people sending me friend requests and not getting a response. Reason is that I use a clunky old PC (yeah I work in IT and can't be bothered fixing it...)

And anyhow, this lovely old PC of mine hates the higher end graphics, fonts and pretty much modern day basic set up of people's profiles... so when I go to have a look, it crashes my entire PC (its usually a font .dll issue) and I lose everything I happened to b… Continue

Locavore? Is it just a new name for Slow Food?

Hello!

Don't even know if anyone reads my blogs, but if you do and can answer this question I would love to hear from you.

Locavore is a new phrase I've recently started hearing everywhere and just wondering if its just a new term for an old one, being slow food. There is a whole world of people dedicated to slow food, which is eating locally where possible, enjoying the food and ensuring its as fresh and chemically free as possible.

Sounds a bit like a Locavore, right?

So, if anyone can tel… Continue

ANZAC Day - Lest we forget...

This post is appearing on both my blog sites as a copy of each other as its an important thing to share.

Today it is ANZAC day. Not just in Australia, New Zealand or Gallipolli. Where ever it is April 25th, it IS ANZAC day.

Why is it important to remember such a day? As with any memorial day, its not just to remember those who fell in battle, dieing for what they believed was right and to keep the future safe. Its not just to thank them for helping them shape how we currently live. It is a rem… Continue

Part of a R.L Stevenson....

Part of my creative "thing" is to cross stitch. And last night, as a chapter opening for a book I'm reading, I came across this part of a larger poem by Robert Louis Stevenson... And am now thinking of turning it into a witchy sampler as I thought it apt.

Rest of the poem isn't that bad either, but this is the part I'm keeping:

I will make you brooches and toys for your delight
