I totally understand you confusion and frustration- The best book I have found in terms of creating your BOS is by Patricia Telesco, called Your Book Of Shadows...It really breaks it down-and even then, it's daunting...my advise is to work with an initial BOS, one that you can write with pencil (and erase because you will probably do that), use dividers (tabs that stick out on top for sections), colored pencils, AND you can either do one of two things (or 3 really). Start small with spells...pick no more than 10-Like, one for a full moon ritual, one for healing, one for abundance (money), one for the elements (getting to know them better stuff) and in pencil write them out in your bos-keep them very simple-Phyllis Curot has an excellant simple book on spells and the elements called Witch Crafting-both od these books are in paper back and under 15.00-Overlook the detailed correspondences like herbs abd oils at first-and don't get caught up in the exact timing of things, like a spell must be done on a thursday at a sepcific time-You can either hand write speels out, type them on your computer and paste them into your book or xerox copy and paste into your bos-My experience is that I often wrote elaboate spells into my bos, using terminolgy that I normally don't use, very elaboate words and decided not yo use it again! Your first BOS is your exploratory period-Choose a book or binder that can expand-Because, as time goes on (years) you will have created a lot of BOS'...no one book can contain years of dedication and information!But at least start out with sections on: Spells, basic correspondences, cleansing rituals, (for your self and tools), timing (relating to the phases of the moon only at first), candles colors, a copy of the Wheel of Life picture, stone/crytal correspondences, a few herbs (at first)God/Goddess correpsondences (only the ones you are drawn to now, that may change later)and your experiences with everything-It takes time to see what works for you and what does'nt-that's why I suggest a trial run with a BOS-There's just TOO much info out there and it can be overwhelming!But by all means pick up the two books I mentioned-I like Silver Raven, I also like Raven Gramassi and Penzack- Penzack is the only one who has actual cds that you can listen to with exercises for both the Inner Temple and Outer (setting up your altar, connecting to the elements, ect.,-They can be bought online for half the cost at amazon.com and Gramassi is from the Italian Strega line of witch craft-Again, what you are drawn to now may not be what you are drawn to in 6 mos or a year or two-but that's ok-It's your personal evolvment in the craft and as a person-hope this helps, let me know if I can help more! bright Blessings, Ianna
