A Grandmother's Perspective on Toddlers and Boats

I thought the three-year-old would marvel at the boat when she saw it. But no, she was scared of it. When handed down from the dock to the stern deck by her father, she gripped my forearms tightly. Then she walked down into the cabin and sat quietly on the V berth, kind of staring around, still in her life jacket.

The one-year-old was carried aboard and down to the cabin, de-jacketed, and promptly crawled across the table, plopped onto the bench seat, slid to the floor, climbed the three steps… Continue

Among your friends, include at least one engineer!

Jim and I have a long time friend, George, who we met in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He recently retired from his job as a city electrician. Even working full time, you found him at the Coast Guard station almost every weekend, either taking long shifts at radio comms or training the new Coasties working on their comms qual.

George is not married, has no significant other, but has numerous siblings who he often visits. He seems quite happy. Having spent many years in the navy before getting his… Continue

There is nothing like messing around in boats!

That old saying is true. Especially for a real sea witch like me.

(my boat on its skid)

The boats go in quicker in the Spring than they come out in the Fall at South Milwaukee Yacht Club. My boat is tenth in line for launching. My son-in-law, Jeff, and I sit near her, waiting… Continue

What kind of Pagan am I?

I took this quiz some other member of PaganSpace had a link too. It was mostly as I expected, except that Shamanic Pagan was slightly higer than Celtic Pagan. I thought that Celtic would predominate. That it does not, says something about me that I did not know - that my heart is more with one culture than another, when I thought it was about equal.

What kind of Pagan are you? You scored as a Shamanic Pagan A shamanic pagan's roots are generally found in Native American faith. A true love and r… Continue

Divination

I collect Tarot decks for their beauty, but use my Robin Wood deck for divination. My divination is a causal activity, a few times a year when I feel the need. Yesterday, I had three related questions to ask but did the readings each several hours apart. For each reading, I cast a circle in my temple room when I had a bit of free time so I could do the readings in a relaxed, unhurried manner. These were honestly the best readings I ever got. Each card fell into place within the layout I used and… Continue

We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other. To meet, to love, to share. It is a precious moment, but it is transient. It is a little parentheses in eternity. If we share with caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other, and this moment will have been worthwhile."

I haven't been here for a while, but I intend to get active again at some point soon. Right now I am busy job hunting as I am loosing the job I have had for twenty-six years. My fall back is to retire, which is a viable option but I really want to work for three or four more years.
