World Wide Vampires

Throughout history, every culture of humanity has had an incarnation of the vampire. The hili is a vampire that hunts the Xhosa people of South Africa. Not all vampires are the undead, such as the brykolakas of Greece. There are many cases of a living person being a vampire, such as the vampire witches of Spain and Mexico. And not all vampires are considered evil, the talamaur of Australia is not only a living person, but it may choose to be a force of good. Some vampires, like the grobnik of…See More

Scorpion

Posted on March 15, 2019 at 3:00pm 2 Comments

This morning I found a scorpion in my kitchen. It was right in the middle of the kitchen floor. It wasn’t there when I fixed breakfast. It was a fully-grown adult scorpion.

Central Texas has lots of scorpions. Mostly they stay hidden in the Wylde. I would impress my friends by saying “Do you want to see scorpions?” Of course, they would say yes, then I would strip back the bark on an old fallen dead tree and reveal numerous scorpions.

In Greco-Roman mythology it was a symbol of…

Steam Bath

Posted on February 10, 2019 at 1:30pm 1 Comment

Sweat baths are a good way to cleanse your body. Your skin pores open and the sweat not only flushes out blocked pores, but it also carries away impurities from within your body. When I had access to a sweat bath, I would go straight from the hot sweat bath to a cold shower. I was imitating the Japanese practice of going from a sweat bath to a bank of snow.

Sweat baths were used extensively in Mesoamerica. Across the areas of Mesoamerica, from the Aztecs to Zapotecs, the…

Black Dogs

Posted on February 8, 2019 at 1:21pm 4 Comments

The only dog I have had as a pet in my whole life is a black dog. It was 44 years ago in Killeen, Texas. I was walking home and passed an old woman’s house. She was an eccentric, strange old woman that lived by herself in a dilapidated wooden house. In her yard she had a small cage with a black dog locked in it. The hot Texas summer sun was beating down on the black dog in the small cage who had no shade, water, or food. The cage was so small that the dog could barely move.

Thinking…

Pole Shift

Posted on January 24, 2019 at 8:22am 3 Comments

Mother Earth has her cycles. All of her children whether they be plants, animals, humans, reptiles, fish, insects, or stones, rely on predicting her cycles for survival. Planting, harvesting, hunting, migration, and warfare are timed to the cycles of Mother Earth. Ancient and modern humans have relied on heavenly bodies to predict the cycles of time; day, month, year, decade, century, and so on and so forth.

One rather long cycle is the magnetic pole shift cycle. Scientist theorize it…
